$10 Million jackpots aren't keepers, toss'em back

Drunk

Souls detached, deprived
By too much:

Flash flood information
Overflows the channel banks
Drowns the mind
Submerges reason:

Pungent mildew growth
Invades our wreckage
Wants too much hair dryer
Credit card
Microwave drum-beat lyrics

Flag

Football team packaged food
News war billboards traffic signs
Gasoline.

Too much water

Drunk

Morning after migraine
For Mankind
When snowmelt hints
Earth patches
Under life foam.

Winter will end.

Have you noticed this?

When 50 hits it is almost always a piece of a complex, interwoven repeat/doubling pattern between MM and PB:

Interesting to watch how this plays out for future draws after both matrix changes.... I'm betting it won't change at all.

Solstice yesterday, Moonset this morning

Yesterday was the longest day of the year, and it was a good one.  Needed every minute of it.

Monsoon beginning? Whoopteedoo!

We've been in a drought cycle for a long time here.... haven't had a proper monsoon yet this century.  But this winter gave us a good snowpack/snowmelt runoff, gave us cause to hope there's a sustained break in the dry.

Then spring brought some dirt in the air and heat, grumbles in the coffeeshop down in Bernalillo that we haven't seen the end of it, that we're in for a dry summer.

Prophets of doom.  Empty words.  We had, not only a rain, but a rain that puddled water, rain that ran down the road carrying dirt away leaving erosion gullies.

Anyway, picked up a wheel with Powerplay for tomorrow night.... got roughly $120 in tickets...

Thankee Todd for those abreviated wheels...

Good luck tonight, gamblers.  Good luck to you all.

Flight in Time

I glow
Residue of full moons past;
Faded sunburn beaches,
Shells worn thin by sand caressed
Rain storm remnants, snow storms,
Dust storms, hail storms, heart storms
Spirit flush with neon sheen
Soft radiance
Into waning years.

Smiling, youthful conceits
Bereft of engine roar
Propeller blur
Impending wingtip stall
The pattern fields and farms
Dust-plume roads of youth
No solace there:
No dead-stick landing
On that rocky patch,
Thank God.

Settles that

KS:  07-08-15-39-41-49
Illinois:  07-08-15-39-41-49
California: 07-09-18-36-37

Cool.    None of those numbers in the test were winners.

So here's a half-baked threory to wrap around it:

You can't predict the numbers that are gonna hit on a given lottery for a given draw.  But you can predict what numbers will be contained within any set of jackpot winners.

Over the next few days any lottery jackpot won anywhere will contain a combination of the following numbers:

1

10

20

34

40

2

11

35

The numbers that hit on a given lottery that rolls won't necessarily be these.  But if anyone wins the jackpot, these will be there to stand muster.

You can massage and filter these around in your own sets to reduce the number of picks, but that's all.  When a set containing these numbers hits somewhere someone will win a jackpot if there's a ticket with them on it. That'll evolve and the jackpot winning numbers will change, but the jackpots will be won by numbers within the group at any given time.

How's that for some backhanded craziness?

On the other hand, it matches rhyme and metre with Jose Silva's experience predicting the Mexican lottery during the 1960s.  He could get the numbers, but he couldn't get the dates, which eventually caused him to give up the effort.

I don't expect anyone to take this seriously, but I'm going to keep an eye on the winning jackpot numbers long enough to prove I'm wrong.

Jackpot winner number patterns

Here's something I find a bit interesting.  All the recent jackpot wins .... all of them.  All different matrix setups, different games, different geography, different nations, even.

I'd like to go back and look at the histories of what numbers won jackpots during any given time period, but I don't believe that's one of the options.  Maybe possible by going to the sites for each lottery.... lots of trouble to go to when it's almost certainly right there in the LP database.

Number histories and Matrix changes

I read on one of the threads that number histories are going to go away when the matrix changes.

I hope it isn't so.  Seems a minor savings compared to the loss, for those who don't happen to believe matrix changes necessarily represent a total change in number behaviors.

I've always found it a minor irritant that the current histories end at 2000, and I have to get the 1990s histories from other sites.

Just a thought.

Entry #70

Matrix changes and number hit patterns

Scouting through the histories trying to get an idea about how the matrix changes will influence number patterns.  In some cases, seems to be a lot, others, not much.  43's an interesting example:

In 1999, 43 was a good hitter on PB, a lousy one on MM.  2005, that's reversed.

Otherwise, the changes in what hit with 43 pre/post changes are on the high-end numbers.  The low-end doesn't appear to have changed much.

43 simply switched horses, riding with the same saddle and bridle, but got a fancy new hat.

I haven't gotten around to looking at a lot more pre/post numbers, but if this is any indication I'd expect the lower end-patterns to mostly hold, while the upper end patterns take a while to establish themselves.

But there might also be another change of horses for some numbers.

Losers

The comment someone made on the last entry here got me digging around in old Dave Van Ronk tapes... had to hear this song one more time:

Losers, probably written by DVR

I lost my wad playing seven-card stud
I was playing for money, they were playing for blood
But on his way back home the big winner got mugged,
Now he’s just another loser like me.

Loser, loser
I got took for my hooser
That sharp got crowned
He’s rehab bound
He’s just another loser
Like me

See that kid sitting back of the bar
He’s picking up a storm on a Martin guitar
That poor fool  thinks he’s a’gonna be a star
He’s just another loser like me

Losers, losers
Some are rikers,
Some are bluesers
Making disco sounds
In a Hochoo lounge
With a bunch of other losers
Like me

Love has busted up this cat for sure
He’s crying like a baby in his baby’s door
Poor fool doesn’t know what he’s crying for
He’s just another loser
Like me

Losers, losers
Can’t stay no seclusers
When she says when
He’ll be back again
He’s just another loser like me

There’s a hobo up in Heaven on the golden street
He’ll panhandle every angel he can meet
He’ll hock his harp for some sneaky pete
He’s just another loser like me.

Losers, losers
Some are dopers, some are boozers
But the Muscatel is down in hell
He's just another loser like me.

When God  appeared to Saint John Wayne
And told him,  Duke, I’m coming again
Life is just a wagon train
I’m glad you’re not a loser like me

Losers, losers
Ten-gallon bruisers
Them Ghengis cats
Are so full of brush mats
They’re just a bunch of losers
Like me.

Hooooookay -- some puzzling human behavior

A friend and I down in Las Lunas were chewing the fat outside a car wash business he owns next to a convenience store a while back.  A pregnant woman who works at the convenience store came outside and plopped down out of sight of the front door, smoking a cigarette, sitting on the concrete and leaning against the building.

We'd discussed this woman before.... a real nice young lady with a life a person wouldn't wish on anyone.... last time I'd seen her she was sitting in the same spot crying, which is how I came to ask my bud about her story.

Anyway, seeing her brought jher into the conversation again.  Most recent weirdness in her life:

The lady is 20 years old.  She went into Isleta Casino a while back with a friend, began feeding her paycheck into the slot machines.  Now, it was illegal for this woman and her friend to be playing the slots, minimum age being 21.

So what happens?  She hits a $5000 jackpot on the machine she's playing.  It lights up like Times Square on New Years Eve, making all kinds of commotion, people coming from all directions to see.

She knows she's going to have to show an ID to get the money.  So what does this poor lady do?  She and her friend beat feet out of there, leaving the jackpot.

I suppose the first thing that comes to mind is this:  What the hell was she doing putting her money into a gambling machine if she couldn't accept a payoff, supposing she hit?

But, she ought to have been able to get someone legal to accept the payoff and split it with her, thinks I.

But she knew she was breaking the law, and what do you do when you get caught red handed?

Why hell, you run if your knees are still good enough to allow it.

That's what's called thinking on your feet.

Jack
