I feel with the communication devices we have now, we have the ability to watch a press briefing streamed live or archived and determine what the president is saying.

I prefer hearing words or reading facts then making up my own mind.

"In the latest shot fired between the White House and the press corps, the Trump administration reportedly blocked numerous mainstream media outlets from being in on Friday afternoon's scheduled press briefing.

CNN, the New York Times, BuzzFeed, the Los Angeles Times and Politico were all denied access to the small briefing known as a "gaggle"—an informal session that's on the record, but without cameras televising the event.

Those that were allowed to attend included NBC, ABC, CBS, and Fox, as well as conservative outlets Breitbart, the Washington Times, and One America News Network. ...."

More Than 200 Inauguration Day Protesters Indicted on Rioting Charges

"A total of 214 people involved in protests on Inauguration Day in downtown Washington have been indicted on felony rioting charges.

A grand jury in D.C. charged five individuals Tuesday with felony rioting in addition to the 209 other defendants indicted on felony rioting charges earlier in February, CNN reported.

The penalty for felony rioting carries a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.

The protests took place in a four-block stretch around downtown Washington while President Trump was being sworn in.

Protesters burned waste canisters, threw the embers at police, and broke windows of businesses downtown......"

China Prepares For "Regime Collapse" In North Korea

"Over the weekend, following reports that China has banned all North Korean coal imports - in the aftermath of last week's North Korean ballistic missile launch- which marked a troubling escalation in relations between the two formerly "amicable" nations, we discussed how China was tipping its hand that not only was Kim Jong-Un potentially losing a "very big ally", but that it could also lead to "jeopady" for his regime, and a potential political coup in the generally unstable dictatorship.

Now, it appears that the likelihood of a regime collapse in North Korea is being taken seriously by none other than the country's formerly largest trading partner, China, which as SCMP reports, "will take the necessary measures to safeguard national security in the event of the collapse of the neighbouring North Korean regime", a defence official said on Thursday.

The recent assassination of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un’s half-brother Kim Jong-nam has sparked renewed concerns over the stability of Pyongyang and the possibility of a collapse of the reclusive regime, SCMP adds. ....."

"The New York Times notes one thing that the generals President Trump has appointed to top administration positions have in common. Gen. Jim Mattis, Gen, John Kelly, and Gen. H.R. McMaster each, at one point or another, “strode the sands of Iraq, fighting on the unforgiving battlefield of America’s costliest war since Vietnam.” Now “all three will sit around the table in the White House Situation Room, steering a new president through the treacherous crosscurrents of a stormy world.”

The Times’ Peter Baker and Eric Schmitt quote Sen. Tom Cotton, who also served in Iraq though not as a general, as to what this means:

    This generation of generals lived through some of the struggles, especially in the ’04, ’05, ’06 time frame in Iraq when we weren’t doing things right. They understand that security and military force are the pre-eminent requirement, but it’s not sufficient. This generation of generals who grew up in the Iraq war probably understands that more than any previous generation.

I think they understand something else that goes unmentioned by Baker and Schmitt. They fully understand the Iranian threat......"
