I've only "personally" known one homeless person, the older brother of a woman I once dated. His family had let him stay with them several times in the past, but had insisted he go into rehab and not drink while living with them. He tried several times, but always went back to living under an overpass in Amarillo, saying he preferred that to being around his family "busybodies".

I don't think there's any easy answer to the problem but whatever they're doing in San Francisco and other cities certainly isn't working. I do think we can help *some* of them with a job and a decent place to stay, but those will be the ones who are motivated to leave the homeless life. The rest have problems that a job and a home won't cure...addiction, mental problems, etc.

With that many people homeless likely including kids, I feel sympathy should be toward our own citizens instead of those who choose to invade.
