Weaselly reporter asks Pence to throw Trump under the bus as soon as he leaves presser President Donald Trump declared that America will be “back very quickly” after dealing with the coronavirus crisis, speaking to reporters on the outbreak at a White House press briefing. As ... |
I actually listened to the conference this morning by Trump, Pence, Fauci, ADM Brett Giroir, Assistant Secretary for Health, and Ben Carson, and this news report is true – it struck me that the reporters were rarely asking helpful questions but instead were snarky, interrupting, and trying to find an angle for blame. It was shameful. We would get a very biased and wrong impression if we only listen to what reporters tell us to think and if we don’t listen to the actual news/event.
I got the strong impression the government agencies were working very hard at fixing this problem, from relaxing regulations keeping “industrial” masks out of the health care field when they are perfectly suitable, to pushing forward drug approval and studies, to allowing doctors to decide whether to make an “off-label” use of chloroquine and azithromycin in consultation with their patients rather than wait for FDA approval, to imploring successfully American companies to manufacture masks, ventilators, etc. and that we are responding without Trump having to mandate via the emergency war powers act, to respecting the decision by governors of highly affected states like CA, NY, IL which have dense urban populations to quarantine citizens but allowing governors of less populated states to make their own decisions.
He also threaded the needle beautifully on China by not insulting them but saying there are great people he respects there, but they should have told the world sooner and we might have prevented some deaths.
He also defended that he “didn’t act sooner” by pointing out the obvious – he stopped all flights from China very early and was called xenophobic or even racist for doing so, and now everyone admits that was the right move, as well as shutting flights from Europe.
I for one am sick of the <snip>ty, snarky coverage by the press how really adds little of value. They are backseat drivers who only know how to criticize and mock. Screw them – let them try to grapple with a situation like this in real time and see what kind of leadership and decisions they come up with. Likely zilch.
Again the main point is how important it is to get ones news from the actual source event rather than let these junior hacks tell us how to think. They are irresponsible. They’ve forgotten that a story is “who, what, when, where, how, and perhaps why”. Instead it’s their opinion piece, invariably nasty against Republicans, fawning if its Democrats. Tired of it, they are who really pulls this country apart.
Peace.
