My roommate has lost his mind!

Published:

My roommate is about to get divorced after only one year of marraige. The beat up corvette he currently drives is under her name because he has no license.

He wants me to put the vette in my name so he can continue to go to work and whatever else. My argument is that if he gets into an accident, i'm screwed. His defense is that he'll just flee the scene, and that I will just say that he took the keys without my permission, clearing me of any wrong doing. What a crock! Is he crazy, especially after what I just went through with another similar situation? (you can read about it in another recent blog I posted).

Not to mention that I've seen him drive intoxicated from time to time. That's why he's in the position he is now. The last DUI was his third one. In order for him to get his license back, he has to go in front of a review board, which cost a few hundred bucks, and if they decide to give him a license, one stipulation will be that he has to install a breathalizer maching into the vehicle and use it before he can start the engine.

Can you imagine if he hits a pedestrian? And someone catches the plate number? Does he think that the court will care about my lame excuse of having the keys stolen? They don't care because the car will be in my name. Sure he'll get in big big trouble, but what about me? Could I be an accessory to the crime?

Even if all goes well, and nothing happens, why the heck would I want to sweat every time he goes driving? I'm not putting myself in that worrisome position.

Some people are just plain crazy.

Did you ever consider just getting your own place?   Seems you hang with the wrong people. LOL

Any accident with a car registered to you will go against your insurance as well as the criminal stuff. You won't be driving a limo, you'll be seeing what Paris Hilton saw. Probably a LOT longer than 23/45 days! LOL

Don't do it.   Let him solve his own problems. Needs to grow up.

Your room mate might be the type to registger it in your name without you knowing.

No bambini. He's not that crazy. He couldn't even if he wanted to. He doesen't have a driver's license. He has to present one in order to register it. Furthermore, he would have to get it insured first, which also requires proof of a license.

The latest is that he's going to counseling tomorrow. I think that's the 12th time he's said that...lol

lol justxploring....It's funny you mention that, because the last rock band he was in was named "Straight Jacket". Seriously! It all makes sense now....

I just realised, its been so long since I had to do all the DMV stuff myself, I'm totally clueless. My insurance company takes care of all that for me.

reminds me of when my brand new camaro got wrecked by my stepdad.year was '93 i think.back then in tennessee insurance was not mandatory.instead of taking the three thousand and fixing my car i went and rented a motel room all summer and smoked pot twenty four seven.i got out of that lifestyle after ending up in the hospital back in '99.i spent the whole decade trashed out of my mind.wasn't a drug i didn't like.its a wonder i didn't die.i thought i walked on water but found out differently.i had a priest visit my room in that hospital in 99 and after the doctor told me one more drink of alcohol could kill me i haven't drank since.that priest told me god didn't put me here to drink and be a bum.he said those seizures were a wake up call.i got the message.i was in the same situation though at this time with a bunch of roommates borrowing my car.once i got out of the hospital i wouldn't let them borrow my car no more.i was kicked out.guess what happened to my roommate? one was crippled in a car wreck two months later.the other roommate died in march of 2000.i was moved by then and never had another roommate.it was hard but i prayed and made it.i lived in a motel for two years after that.had my lil dog skeet to keep my company.don't put that car in your name.it ain't worth it.trust me.
