Hunter's trial is huge in what happens next. If he walks, then more people will see the the system as corrupt which hurts the dems politically and helps Trump in November.
If he gets convicted the media will try to blame it on the Trump judge in order to fire up the left against Trump.

Now thinking ahead here a bit...
Hunter is looking at 25 years max. 10, 5,10 years on the three charges plus a $250K fine on each. Plus he still has his tax case to deal with later on. If he gets convicted however long the sentence, how does he handle it?  Will it be, "They got me. I did the crime, I'll do the time" or will he say "Dad, get me out of here" and expect Joe to pardon him? And what role will the family play in that decision?

Next, is Joe worried that if Trump gets elected he will go after him for his CCP deals and other things later on? Most likely yes.

Next. If Joe pardons Hunter he will surely be called to testify in any trials.
So what if Joe keeps his word and doesn't pardon him because he thinks it is in his own best interest not to, because Hunter can tie him to deals with China, Burisma, Ukraine, and who knows what else, and if he is in prison they won't bring him in to testify. And that's good for me.
How does Hunter handle that? Obviously he could be upset about it. Does he get pissed and say, FU Dad?

Next. But what if they do bring Hunter in from prison to testify? Does he say "Screw it, I'm already in jail what else can they do to me"? Then does he turn on Joe and tell everything he knows as a get even or pay back for Joe not pardoning him? 
This will be interesting. Does Joe save himself or his son?

GR, the scenarios are intriguing, I think the first domino is that Hunter walks in Delaware, they don't care about the optics, and remember he has a friendly jury, bigly.
