Probably one of the dumbest moves so far.  The technicians are highly trainined to do maintenance on the radar and landing systems. It  takes years of specialized traning to be certified to work and keep the  equipment running.  I know I was a technician for the Faa.   I went to training at the academy  in Oklahoma City for years.  If there are not enough electronic technicians to fix the equipment then the equipment cannot be online.   Also, it's very expensive to train technicians with per deim and travel  expenses.
