Companies layoff all the time for various reasons. Restructuring, (IE change in management), corporate downsizing (plant closures), financial (not enough money coming in), lost a contract, relocation, change in product line, mergers, takeovers,... Who goes first? Troublemakers, the ones that got bad annual reviews, aren't good at their jobs, the least productive. It sucks, but you find a new job life goes on.
