Palin Accused of Mishandling firing of Ex brother in law

Palin was found guilty of abuse of power, but nothing is being done about

it.  What has happened to justice in this country?  If that were you or me

we would be in jail or on papers or something.  No wonder our children

think it's okay to do wrong, because you can get away with it if you know

someone who knows someone.  Man will soon self destruct if God doesn't

hurry and intervene.

Maybe not. A legal commentary about the "finding." Discussed at length but not in soundbites ..... permalink at bottom of quotes.

"The "troopergate" report -- thin gruel

I've read the Alaska "Troopergate" report. Its analysis is quite thin and its key findings (the ones relating to Governor Palin) are not convincing. ........."

"........ Unfortunately, the author of this report offers essentially zero analysis. He is content to state that his finding is based on "the entire record." He does not bother to explain how that record led to his conclusion. ....."

"..........In the end, it seems to me that Gov. Palin did not exercise particularly good judgment in this matter. But the case that she abused her power by violating the ethics statute and/or that she fired the public safety commissioner because he wouldn't act against Wooten has not been made. ......"

A 269 page report by partisan politics, she not guilty of anything, there was no TRIAL, you know with a judge and jury.

How about a former president that abused an intern, does that count? Oh, she was a bad girl and Billy Bones used bad judgement? Was that abuse of power or abuse of tobacco products and blue dresses?

Where was justice when a former football star murders two people and walks away..........Oh yeah, God does work in mysterious ways...guilty...sentencing to follow, justice will be done. According to some, the gangs can't wait for him to join the prison population.

That "trooper" of troopergate you speak of above, threatened peoples lives, was drunk on the job, and enjoyed the demo mode of tasers on a kid. Isn't it funny no one investigated the troopers' abuse of power and is still on the job. But no mention of that.

Wiltay, wiltay, wiltay.....you should be outraged about the lies you are falling for, hook, line, and sinker, Barryobiden and the leftist cancer that will infest the govt. and its' bureacracies if God forbid they win, could damage the democracy permanently and make things worse for everybody. There is enough rules in place already we don't need anymore laws, regulations, or political correctness anymore.

A vote for McCain/Palin is a vote to insure our basic freedoms, keeping the democracy intact, and reducing govt. waste.

Barryobiden will be guilty of the lessening of our freedoms and the demise of our democracy.

What would you call a Fla. congressman that pays off a mistress under the supervision of his party's leaders so she won't spill the beans? Now remember there is a paper trail, audio recordings, and witnesses..... Well, the congressman is a democrat/leftist named Mahoney, he is married with several mistresses, he replaced Mark Foley. Where are the calls for an investigation? Guilty as sin, a hypocrite, lets see if God intervenes on this one:

http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2008/10/13/politics/politico/thecrypt/main4518124.shtml

Rep. Tim Mahoney (D-FL), whose predecessor Mark Foley resigned in disgrace, paid his alleged mistress -- a former staffer -- $121,000 in a settlement, according to ABC News, citing Mahoney staffers.

A spokesman for Mahoney said no campaign or office funds were used for the payout.

Excerpts (with full story here):

Mahoney, who is married, also promised the woman, Patricia Allen, a $50,000 a year job for two years at the agency that handles his campaign advertising, the staffers said.

A Mahoney spokesperson would not answer questions about the alleged affair or the settlement, but said Allen resigned of her own accord and "has not received any special payment from campaign funds."

The affair between Mahoney and Allen began, according to the current and former staffers, in 2006 when Mahoney was campaigning for Congress against Foley, promising "a world that is safer, more moral."
The staffers say Mahoney first met Allen at a campaign stop and later arranged for her to work as a volunteer on the campaign. Allen also appeared in a Mahoney campaign television commercial, criticizing his opponent.

Following his election in 2006, Allen was hired, at taxpayers expense, to work on Mahoney's Congressional staff in Florida, at a yearly salary of $36,000.

After complaints about the affair circulated in Washington, Allen was moved to the campaign staff, the staffers say.

Friends of Allen told ABC News that Allen sought to break off the affair when she learned Mahoney was allegedly involved in other extra-marital relationships at the same time.

Her friends say she told them Mahoney threatened that ending the relationship could cost her the job.

"You work at my pleasure," Congressman Mahoney told Allen on a January 20, 2008 telephone call that was recorded and played for Mahoney staffers. ABC News was provided a copy.

If that trooper was not Gov Palins relative do you think it would have been investigated as abuse of power?
Now I will give this woman credit for her actions as she will take decisive action against a relative or non relative in her political capacity.
Decisions will always be necessary to be made in any situation no matter what the fallout may be.

That relative is a nasty human being.

We could flip the coin on this scenario.
If the trooper comitted an act that did not follow the rules of his job what charges do you think Gov Palin would have been brought up on knowing about this troopers habits?
Coverup charges.

Wiltay, I'm not sure you understand the first thing about that report, because she is not "guilty" of anything. If someone is telling you that, they are lying. If you think you heard it on the news, then you did not understand.

Our children -- especially our daughters -- have a very good role model to look up to, thanks to Sarah Palin.

Okay, let's be politically correct. She failed to handle the situation the right way. We all make mistakes, but when we do, we shouldn't be running around accusing others because we all fall short. The world is in a mess and the government does not have the answer! Will they admit it? No! As wise as Solomon was, by the time he wrote the book of Ecclesiastes he had become a cynic, but "he was a wise cynic." He said that government does little to stop oppression of the poor or violent perversion of justice. His reason being, "high official watches over high official and higher officials over them." Meaning, government bureaucracies are not capable of handling human needs. Especially when they don't be fair or honest in positions that have been entrusted to them. We need to stop looking to people as role models and look to Jesus. If we keep our eyes on him we can't go wrong. We are human and we will fail. It's not the government's responsibility to take care of us and our brothers. "It's ours." Until we as a people become concerned about someone other than ourselves and show love and respect for one another can we help the poor and put an end to violence and corruption in government and throughout the world. But it will not happen because Someone will always think they are better and more powerful than someone else. This is 2008 people! And still,
Racism is alive and as well as it ever was. Every time it starts to die out someone resuscitates it in new ways.   I'm with Obama, It's time for change! In government and every other aspect of life. Hatred and negativism kills. We have been described by other countries as people who hold a Bible in one hand a gun in the other. What a way to be described!
We need people who care about people in Washington. We need to decide who that might be and put them there. But first we need to stop
taking God out of everything because where God is not, corruption and confusion abounds. We need to help our government come up with ideas of how our country should be run and hold them accountable when they go wrong. This is how we grow.   We are at this point because we have just sat back and said and done nothing. Edmund Burke said it best when he said "The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing." Let's start doing something!

America is not a racist country. Your candidate is leading by a good margin. And you claim racism? Ridiculous. If anything, this election has shown that gender bias against women is much more prevalent than racism, and your candidate, who apparently thinks he is the messiah, has done it to two different female candidates in the same presidential campaign.

If Palin can run for vice president, so can I. Her knowledge is very limited. She has been treated nice, with all the mud she has been slinging. They have been easy on her because she is a female. A dumb one at that. Picking her as a vp pick is a disgrace to all women. Hillary was smart. America is a very racist country. The thought of a minority beening in the White House is about to bring this country to a civil war. It's sad that the country we live in has so much hatred in it. I try to be open-minded about things, but as I read some of the things that people have in their hearts, it let me know that the there are still a whole lot of wolves in sheep clothing.

Todd, what rock have you been hiding under? AMERICA IS STILL RACIST!
It always has been and always will be until Jesus comes and destroys it.

Actually, it is YOU who is hiding under a rock. A black man is leading by a wide margin for president is practically worshipped by a massive following of people. At this point, cries of "RACISM!!!" are a red herring, and that concept is dead.

That's why Jessie Jackson said he wanted to cut Barack Obama's nuts off.

BTW, I don't remember reading anything in the Bible about Jesus coming back to "get rid of racism in America". Sounds like something that Obama's "Spiritual Advisor" would say right after he said "No, no, no, not God Bless America -- God DAMN America!" Didn't he say that was in the Bible too?

You must be white to not be experiencing racism in America. I am black and I know what I experience from white people in my daily life. It has nothing to do with Obama. I know what I have to deal with on a daily basis. Jesse Jackson is just jealous because he didn't have the power
to go as far as Obama has and it's because he is a self seeker. Just like big business and corporations and the illuminate.
