Rare consecutive sequence drawn Monday
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — The Florida Lottery set a new record with 47 top prize winners in the Fantasy 5 game.
Lottery officials say each ticket matching all five numbers drawn Monday night is worth $4,581.74. The winning numbers were 14-15-16-17-18.
This is the most number of Fantasy 5 winners since 2001 when the Fantasy 5 matrix was changed from 26 to 36 numbers, making it more difficult to win. In 2005, 40 tickets matched all five numbers, which is the previous record under the new matrix.
Lottery officials say all-time Fantasy 5 record was set in June 1993 with 204 winning tickets.
The 505 tickets matching four numbers will collect $68.50. Another 9,439 tickets matching three numbers won $10 each, and 91,855 tickets won a Quick Pick for picking two numbers.

how often does that happen all in a row 14-18...like once in a lifetime!
Wow look at that number sequence. What are the odds.smells fishy to me.
Congrats to the winners.
This happened in PA ... just last Dec 2010, the numbers 1-2-3-4-5 came out in the Treasure Hunt game ... there were 49 winning tickets ... The jackpot had built to $60,000 but with all the winners, each ticket only paid $1266. .... then on Feb 06, 2004 ... the Cash 5 numbers were 5-10-15-20-25 ... there were 242 winning tickets and each ticket only paid $439. So it can and does happen but I find it hard to believe so many people played five numbers in a row starting with 14 ... gosh, how many other odd numbers in a row are people playing? I can see maybe those numbers that hit in PA coming out ... they make a little sense but that many people playing those 5 numbers ... why? ... it's over my head.
you know whats sad, is people play 1-2-3-4-5-6 on powerball and megamillions
even if they Did win, by having whatever numbers come up in a row, their going to be Many winners, so the jackpot spit, whats the point winning a 244m jackpot with 40+ others, am greedy!
oh will, it worked for these 47, so best of luck to them, just goes to show, on low odds games, the darmest number combo's can come out.....
I wonder if any of those were QPs? If any of them were, probably the buyers threw them away thinking those numbers wouldn't ever come up.
Fantasy5 is a 5/36 game with 376,922 possible combinations and from 1-2-3-4-5 to 32-33-34-35-36 there are 32 consecutive combinations of five so the odds of that happening are 32:376,992 or 1:11,781.
That came close to happening six times in Ohio Rolling Cash5(5/39)
on 02/14/09 with 1-2-3-4-35
on 01/13/08 with 30-36-37-38-39
on 11/15/07 with 23-29-30-31-32
on 06/16/07 with 11-18-19-20-21
on 07/25/06 with 21-30-31-32-33
on 04/12/06 with 11-16-17-18-19
I'm happy when I have a PB or MM ticket matching 3+1 paying $100-$150 so matching 5+1 in one of those games would make me even happier regardless of the number of other winners.
Thats the way all lotteries should play in my eyes, gives alot of people a chance to win something more than you are getting now....HELLO.Just like the mega millions and pwerball......I'm not a gretty person I would share with 244 people to win a million....
Looking at it from the outside as we are doing, it's easy to say "I'd love to split this or that with all those other people".
But from the inside, you've gotta remember that these people are probably the average Joe lottery player who has no clue how it all works like some of us do.
I'd imagine it's quite a let down for most, if not all those people. I dont know what the JP was in that game, but when you're an average person playing a buck or two in the lottery, you may pick these numbers thinking no one else is ever going to pick them. Then you see those winning numbers and believe you're getting $50,000, $100,000, $250,000, or whatever the JP was. Your mind must start spending that money, I'm gonna buy two new cars, or pay off all these bills, or pay off the house. And then you later learn that your huge jackpot has been reduced to a mere $4000, which is not enough to do any of the things you were dreaming of....that must be a pretty serious letdown.
None of these were QP's. They were all picked by the players....Crazy
Play smarter and avoid all the things the "experts" say to avoid such as all low, high, even, odd, and consecutive numbers. Also avoid playslip patterns and common sequences like 5-10-15-20-25 unless you want a very low prize payout.
Yep, that is how I play them.
Sometimes the numbers I usually play wont look right so I will mix them up better...I have enough to mix and match.
I would be happy to win anything, but if I actually won with the numbers I ALWAYS play and got a low payout due to other people playing them I would definitely NOT be a happy camper
Congrats to these people though!
Same odds as any other numbers hitting, what's so fishy about it?
Lottery numbers from TV shows and fortune cookies have hit before, just as number sequences like this have hit. Nothing too unusual.
PRIZE LEVEL NUMBER OF WINNERS PRIZE AMOUNT
5-of-5 47 $4,581.74
4-of-5 505 $68.50
3-of-5 9,439 $10.00
those were the winning prizes...pick 2 of 5 won also a smaller amount.
Look at the 2 drawings before this one. 12,14,16,20,35 and 8,9,27,29,32. It's very unlikely that either of those would have come up randomly, but the chances that those two combinations would happen back to back is 120 billion to 1. Once you look at the odds for the last 5 drawings it should be completely obvious that there's something going on that's impossible to understand. At least for some people.
people may say crazy, but hpow much did we all " im not playing 1 2 3 4 5 6 " people win this week?
Correction to my previous post...There was actually one QP...It was a FREE QP
Still nutz that 46 out of the 47 winners actually picked that combo
"Rare consecutive sequence drawn Monday"
Rare..? How exactly?
It's just as rare, and unlikely, as any other combination that has come up so far!
In June 1993 when the 204 people won the winning numbers were 2-6-12-18-24 and only 17 were quick picks. They won $4,228.03. Do anyone see the pattern? Mulitples of 6 besides the 2 and all even numbers. If you are looking for a huge payday avoid these patterns. Also avoid all low, high, even, odd and consecutive numbers. Let's this be a learning experience.
AMEN to that RJOH!!!!
Everyone is complaining about nothing, look here....you spend a $1.00 and get $4,581.74. What is there to %itch about if you play sequence numbers like that you should expect to share the winnings.....this is the very reason why some people will not win anything substancial in there lifetime, too much complaining and ingratitude.
So what, 20 + people choose the same numbers and win it too. A LITTLE OF SOMETHING IS BETTER THAN NOTHING be greatful for the little that you reveice it will open the way for bigger and more to come. (wait a minute am I preaching to the choir here....lol... let me leave it at that then.)
If you are unappreciative of a little of something. YOU GET NOTHING.. so continue being ungrateful and you will win big "When fowl have teeth".
i agree but thats alot of people that won though.......
The odds are 1 in376,992 that you will pick 5 out of a possible 36 numbers.
I just smelled my play slip and my tickets. Nothing unusual except for the pasta sauce I dripped when serving dinner this evening.
Let me put it this way. I don't believe most of what I see on the internet, watch on TV and little of what I hear from neighbors. However, I do have faith that the Lottery is random. If I didn't, it would make no sense at all for me to buy a ticket, right?
I'm curious. What advantage would the Florida Lottery have by rigging the drawing? It's still paying out the same amount whether 1, 10 or 100 people won the jackpot. In fact, when there are this many winners, it might discourage regular players. Just my opinion.
Very true.... What benefit would the FL Lottery have by "rigging" the draw? NONE
This draw was not fishy, rigged, or cheated one bit. Sure it seems like an odd set of #s considering its not typical a draw pulls all consecutive #s, but it is not rigged.
Precisely.
In fact, if these kind of results could not happen, that's when we should worry about things being fixed.
Far be it from me to cast any aspersions (nyuk, nyuk, nyuk, yeah right) but Fantasy 5 is a computer game.
It was a computer game that Tennessee got caught cheating it's players with.
So because of states like Tennessee getting caught cheating, people will always wonder and have doubt.
It seems clear to me that Fantasy 5 had little to gain by cheating in this instance, but again, Tennessee poisoned the well so people aren't so trusting anymore.
Bad Tennessee! Bad!
Congrats to all the winners......
You know exactly what was meant when the poster said that it was rare.
You are one of the types trying to stir the pot. You know that it is rare that all consec #'s hit. Although it is true, all #s have the same chance of hitting. 99.9% of the time there is a more "random" set that hits, not a consecutive hit.
When people are saying its "rare" they mean it is rare that 5 in a row hit, as a pattern. That "Pattern" is rare, not the #s themselves
Congratulations to the winners....I'll be a winner Friday night @ 8 PM!!!
Maybe instead of "rare" he meant to say "medium rare".
That's how I like my steaks at Ruth's Chris', btw.
With a big ol' glass of Jack on the rocks.
