Lottery increases Cash 3 prize payouts to celebrate 6th anniversary

By Kate Northrop

The Mississippi Lottery is celebrating its 6th anniversary by tripling all Cash 3 prizes for the entire month of November.

For all of November, Mississippi lottery players have the chance of walking away with three times the amount in Cash 3 than usual.

The Mississippi Lottery launched its "Cash 3 Times 3" promotion on Nov. 1, which awards players with triple the winnings in Cash 3. Any prize that is won through Nov. 30, 2025 in the in-state draw game is automatically tripled.

"We like to mark our anniversary with special games and promotions for the players," Mississippi Lottery President Jeff Hewitt said in a press release. "Cash 3 is a daily fan favorite, and this promotion gives players three times the reason to celebrate all month long."

The promotion includes the top prize, which will increase from $500 to $1,500. There is no extra cost or special play slip required, the Lottery clarified. The price of a Cash 3 ticket starts at 50 cents and offers several different play types and wager options. A full list of prizes and odds for each play style is available on Lottery Post's Mississippi Lottery Prizes and Odds page.

The automatic triple multiplier applies to all play types and is valid for Quick Picks, multi-draws, and exchange tickets as long as the draw date falls within the Nov. 1-30 promotional period, the Lottery advised.

Prizes will revert to standard amounts starting Dec. 1, 2025.

Cash 3 drawings take place twice a day at 2:30 p.m. CT and 9:30 p.m. CT. All winning numbers, prizes, and odds are published on Lottery Post's Mississippi Lottery Results  page right after each drawing.

Is every pick 3 draw in November paying triple cash.  Otherwise what would prevent someone from buying all 1000 combos to guarantee a profit of $500 ?

I was thinking the same thing but what's going to happen is what if select numbers are sold out, also the tax purposes. The $1500 won't be taxed federally but it counts as income so depending on how many times you win it could possibly get you on the back end. Possibly state taxes also and the sucky part its only one location in the entire state to cash prizes of $600 or more.

Even if you don't play Straight for the triple payout,

You can still triple a boxed payout.

A lot of people play boxed so that's good news.

No. If there are too many winners the 500.00 prize would be reduced thus negating any attempt for players to buy it out. Also stores will not give you 1000 slips to individually play every combination or will they allow you to play them if somehow you got the slips due to time restraints. Or even allow you to call them out verbally.

That's not what it says on their website.

No matter how many people play or how many people win, the set prize amounts are the same. Your total prize amount depends on the type and amount of play you choose.

Wow. Just Wow.

This one is going to be very interesting to watch in November.

Will the local people in Mississippi jump on this with both feet and make a killing?

Will the out of state people swarm in and make a killing?

Will the lottery people continue this through the month if either of the above happens?

Wow. Just Wow.

Best wishes to all.

Only reason they are doing this is because they've gotten their self in a bind . Since it became a two draw state Ms lottery has always gotten trips 8 times a year this year they cut it in half to only 4 times! Ms lottery has became the most greedy and crooked lottery that's ever been.

They intentionally choose numbers, not at random?

i really wonder what their logic was when they came up with this promotion. some ideas:

the ms lottery assumes that most players "reinvest" their winnings into buying more tickets, therefore the free money will just go back into the ecosystem. or...

the ms lottery assumes that only a small fraction of players will make playing pick 3 their full time job and that the vast majority will not buy up all straight combinations every draw.

i don't think the second one is  a safe assumption.

"what's going to happen is what if select numbers are sold out "

Then you might only get a 98 or 99% chance of a guaranteed profit.

"The $1500 won't be taxed federally but it counts as income "

Unless your marginal rate is more than 33% (in which case you probably won't be bothering to win a $500 profit here and there) you get a profit even without any deductions. If you itemize you get to deduct 90% of what you've spent, so winning $1500 only results in $600 of taxable income. At a marginal rate of 26.7% (97 to 200k taxable income for a married couple) you'd lose $160 to taxes, and have a net profit of $340.

"the ms lottery assumes that most players "reinvest" their winnings into buying more tickets, therefore the free money will just go back into the ecosystem. "

I've got to assume that's their thinking, unless they're unusually stupid. This is basically like the MA Cash Windfall rolldowns except that the profit margin can be a guaranteed 50% and it only costs $1000 (even less if you box all plays) to get that profit.

"i don't think the second one is  a safe assumption. "

The upside isn't huge, but buying 1000 tickets is easy, and if there's nothing in place to limit sales a syndicate could potentially win 20 times per day without much effort. That's 10k per day or a $300k monthly loss to the lottery. Factor in a few players with access to 50k and multiple syndicates and the promotion could cost several million. Not a huge loss, but no matter what there's no direct profit in the promotion.

l am among the best cash3 players on the planet and have won over $100,000 on cash3 alone average $20,000 per year. So l don't need to buy 1000 tickets that is boring and insulting my intelligence the most l play per game is $100 win or loss doesn't matter. I play fairly and l win fairly too 😇😉😍

l understand some people would find my statement funny 😁 but it is absolutely 👍 true. Am the kind of Guy that would never use a date rape drugs on a woman even if given the opportunity because l actually appreciate 100 percent participation 😇. So for me to even buy all the 1000 possibilities makes the Hunt boring 😴. I get excited when l can bet $20 and win $600 or more not bet $1000 no excitement 😌 . Even my $100,000 estimate is a low estimate because have won $18,000 in one evening up to fifty tickets and remember l played all straight and box so l wasn't even betting fully could have been $36,000 but l try to be a disciplined player 🫠🤠

What makes me one of the best and most dangerous is that l am improving at a higher rate than most people. And even when l loss most of the time is by one ☝️ digit 🤠

Am not saying am ahead or behind not relevant because win or loss l love to play. Love 💕 women but love Lottery equally they both excite 😻 me in two different ways 🤠
