Granite State upping the ante on most expensive lottery ticket

By Kate Northrop

The New Hampshire Lottery launched its most expensive game in over a decade: a $30 scratch-off ticket that offers the biggest-ever prize in the state at $3 million.

New Hampshire lottery players have a shot at winning the largest scratch-off prize in state history with the New Hampshire Lottery's latest $30 instant ticket.

The new $30 game is called "$3,000,000 Cash Spectacular," and it offers players a chance to win one of three $3 million top prizes.

To commemorate the historic ticket, which was released on March 23, the Lottery plastered a 70-foot tall version of the new ticket on the side of the GYK building on Canal Street in Manchester, formerly the R.G. Sullivan Cigar Factory.

"We are always looking for new and exciting ways to connect with our players while delivering opportunities to win big," Lottery Executive Director Charlie McIntyre said. "Seeing this new $30 scratch ticket brought to life on such a large scale in downtown Manchester is a powerful reminder of the fun and anticipation our games create. We're thrilled to offer our players the chance to win $3 million — the largest scratch ticket jackpot prize we have ever offered — and we look forward to the excitement this new ticket will bring."

With 35 chances to win in a classic scratch-and-match fashion, the game also offers an additional four spots on the play area to automatically win a bonus prize.

Revealing a safe symbol on the play area will reward all 35 prizes on the board.

The $3 million top prize can be claimed as an annuity paid out over 30 years, but players may opt to claim it as a $1.75 million cash option before taxes.

"$3,000,000 Cash Spectacular" is now available at official New Hampshire Lottery retailers. Players may download the Lottery Places app on iPhone (iOS), Android, and Windows mobile devices to locate the nearest retailer.

The overall odds of winning any prize in the game are 1 in 2.89.

So then it's not $3 million. It's $1.75 million.

Some lucky soul south of the border will definitely win one of these (Massachusetts).

So do you apply that to all cash option payouts and if so why did you wait until now to satisfy so? Just curious.

Scratch offs usually don't engage in this bait-and-switch. Sad to see it happening.

$30 for a mere 3 million dollar price is highway robbery to lottery players

Well put .....

For thirty dollars I can buy 10 to 15 powerball tickets for a cash value of 9 mil or six tickets of megamillions for a cash value of around 22 mil.

Of course, it's a lot harder to win than the scratcher but that's another thing.

Have a shaggy day!

PS On another topic, tho lottery related .... What's with Ark and Del twice winning multistate mega lottery jackpots as of recent memory?

Not me .....

When I do scratchers ..,..which is seldom to none (maybe Christmas or my birthday) my philosophy is to buy $5 and $10 and maybe maybe one $20 but generally I like to buy the $20 scratchers when/if I win $20 or more on a $5 or $10 so that I don't feel like I wasted my own $$$.

I agree  they have ways of rigging things  the pool piles of cash together  and  pump out every ticket.

It's because the odds of winning the NH scratch off is 780 times better than PB/MM.

States don't win jackpots. People do.
