Guaranteed cash prizes to be awarded every drawing, but odds are harder
By Kate Northrop
This weekend the Canadian multi-province Lotto Max draw game gets its revamp, which promises jackpots capped at $90 million (US$64.7 million) and guaranteed $100,000 (US$71,940) cash prizes with every draw.
Canadians will get the chance to try out the new iteration of the multi-province Lotto Max draw game on April 11, which will include a bigger jackpot cap at the cost of a higher ticket price.
In addition to a shot at the jackpot and a new feature that offers chances to win additional cash prizes, each ticket purchase will include more lines per play. However, this comes at the cost of $6 per ticket up from $5 and more difficult odds at hitting the jackpot.
Players will be able to begin purchasing tickets for the revamped game on April 11, with the first drawing to abide by the new game rules taking place on April 14.
As of now, Lotto Max jackpots reach a maximum of $80 million (US$57.5 million), but that limit will increase by $10 million to $90 million once the changes are active.
A new feature called the MAXPLUS Series will give players chances to win $100,000 prizes every drawing in addition to the regular prize structure. After every Lotto Max drawing, the game draws seven more numbers at random for every multiple of $1 million in that evening's jackpot amount.
For example, if the jackpot for that evening is at $50 million, there will be 50 MAXPLUS draws following the main drawing. Each of those separate MAXPLUS drawings offers a $100,000 prize, and any ticket matching all seven numbers in any of these draws wins a share of that $100,000 prize. If there is more than one winning ticket in a particular MAXPLUS drawing, they will split the $100,000 prize.
The odds of winning any single MAXPLUS prize will be the same as winning the jackpot: 1 in 33,446,140.
MAXMILLIONS will continue to deliver $1 million prizes with every draw when the jackpot is $50 million and greater.
And while the ticket price will increase by a dollar, every ticket includes four plays instead of three. However, the jackpot will be harder to win, with two extra numbers for players to choose from, ranging from 1 to 52 rather than 1 to 50.
The odds of winning any prize will also improve, from 1 in 8.5 to 1 in 5.8.
Lotto Max drawings are conducted digitally via random number generator.
The Lotto Max jackpot currently stands at $18 million (US$13 million) for the next drawing on Friday, April 10, 2026. Lotto Max drawings take place every Tuesday and Friday at 10:30 p.m. Eastern Time.
All winning numbers, prizes, and odds are published on Lottery Post's Multi-Province Lottery Results page right after each drawing.

Go Canada!!
I buy Lotto Max ticket's
Thanks for featuring this article on the Lottery Post's site Kate for all us Canadian lottery post fans and subscribers to see.
I'm no fan of PRNG drawings and since all the national games ie LottoMax, Daily Grand and Lotto 6/49 has been elevated to that platform I've reduced my purchasing budget to just a few dollars and sparodic purchases
That being said, hopefully, when I do/if i do, I'll have one of those jackpot winning tickets.
PS:I have a set of numbers from Chat GPT that I'll be playing and hoping they will bring me luck! I've used it for Pick 2 predictions and it issued 4 sets of #s. 3 sets hit so i'm hoping my winning streak might continue with the lotto max set. Will see.
Peace!
Picking up on the topic of the moment ie LottoMax ..... does anybody know a basic recipe for (P.U.: Hoo Kut Da) grilled cheese sandwiches?
