Player is in disbelief at raking in more than $300,000 in winnings

TALLMADGE, Ohio — An Ohio man just had the luckiest day of his life when he won a top-tier prize in one lottery game and then $300,000 in another.
The Ohio Lottery is coining this winner's lucky streak as the "best day of his life," which was bookended by two separate wins in two different games.
The winner, going by "D." in an announcement from the Lottery, told officials about a lucky streak he's not sure will ever happen again. It first involved him placing a $0.50 straight bet on a Pick 3 midday drawing and matching all three numbers in exact order to win a $250 prize.
Later that day, he went to the store again — Giant Eagle on West Avenue in Tallmadge — and decided to try out another lottery ticket.
The Ohio Lottery's new $30 "Wild Cash Tripler" scratch-off game caught his eye. Admittedly, he didn't win on the first couple of tickets that he bought, but the fourth ticket he purchased told a different story.
He handed the ticket in question to the clerk behind the counter to check it for him — he couldn't be sure he was counting all the zeroes correctly.
When the cashier's response wasn't enough proof for him, he scanned the ticket on the Lottery's app, too. That's when it really sunk in that he won the lottery for the second time that day, this time for a $300,000 prize.
He visited the Lottery on April 6 to claim his prize and took home $219,750 after federal and state taxes. With those winnings, he said he plans on paying off his parents' car and buying a brand-new car for himself. He'll put the rest into his savings.
As of now, three out of four $3 million top prizes remain in the $30 "Wild Cash Tripler" scratch-off game, which launched in November 2025. There are also three out of ten second-tier prizes of $1 million and eight out of 12 third-tier prizes of $300,000 remaining.
The overall odds of winning any prize in the game are 1 in 3.13.

He handed the ticket to the clerk to check it for him. He's lucky the clerk didn't say hey you won $300 dollars here you go here's your $300

Congratulations 🎉 on the win.
May you and your parents enjoy the new and paid off cars 🚗
I love my parents so much, but if I won 200K they won't hear or see anything about it 🤣🤣 but if it's in the millions, I would chip in here and there 😁
I am amazed that for a $30 ticket the top prize is $300,000.
It's not. The top prize is $3 million.
Gotcha
I calculated the odds of this happening...
win $300,000 (or more) on the first OR second OR third OR fourth scratch off ticket
1 in 31,250
pick 3 straight is 1 in 1000
So, getting both is 1 in 31.25 million
Congrats!
That is a good day, congrats to the lucky guy, enjoy.
Congratulations to the winner🎉
I wonder ...
Considering 'D' is from Ohio and he was lucky twice in one day ..,after spending $120.50 on lotto:
1. Is he bald or balding?
2. Does he know Prince William personally?
3. Does he prefer mashed or whipped potatoes with his meatloaf dinner?
4. Does he have an aunt Hilda and an uncle Hank (Henry)?
5. Does he have a dog named phydaux ?
Have a shaggy day!

Yes, no experienced lottery player would do that. Clerks do handstands when customers ask them to check their tickets instead of doing it themselves. Why do I think he would have spent the entire 250.00 (240.00 actually) on 4 more 30.00 scratch tickets if he hadn't scored on the 4th one. Rather impulsive on his part but it paid off.
Rather impulsive on his part but it paid off.
So he was lucky 3 times that day instead of twice.
Lucky him! 🍀
He probably would not have bought that last wining ticket if he had not won the spending $250 in the first place.
Congrats to him.
True. It was his time.
