Lucky lottery winner goes 3-for-3, but one is significantly better than the rest

LINCOLN PARK, Mich. — A Michigan woman was eyeing the dwindling roll of scratch-off lottery tickets at the store when she decided she had to have them all — a choice that won her a $1 million prize.

One Michigan woman couldn't help but scoop up the remaining lottery tickets in a scratch-off game pack, and while she didn't think much of it, it was a million-dollar decision.

A million dollars just might be waiting on the very last ticket, and an anonymous Wayne County resident wasn't taking any chances. It's thanks to that mindset that she's looking forward to "living easier."

The lucky break took place while she was visiting AAA Fuels on Dix Highway in Lincoln Park.

"While I was cashing out at the store, I saw the 'Lady Luck 777' ticket and asked the clerk how many were left on the roll," she told the Michigan Lottery. "There were only three left, so I bought them all."

She preferred to only scratch off the numbers in the play area without revealing the prize amounts, just to first see whether she won any prizes to begin with.

"I scratched the tickets and saw I'd won on all three of them, but I didn't scratch off the amounts," the winner continued. "I scanned them at the store, and the first came back as a $100 winner, the second a $50 winner, and the third came back with a message to file a claim at the lottery office. I asked the clerk what it meant, and he said I must have a big winner."

There was only one prize amount that she bothered to scratch off.

"I went out to my car and scratched the amount to find out I'd won $1 million!" the lucky player celebrated. "The first thought that went through my head was that I can live easier now."

She visited Lottery headquarters in Lansing recently to claim her prize, the Lottery announced late May, where she chose to receive it as a one-time lump sum payment of about $693,000 versus an annuity for the full amount.

The 63-year-old plans on using the winnings to buy a new car, share with family members, and save whatever is leftover.

Following her claim, there is just one more $1 million top prize out of three originally available at the game's launch in August 2025. There are also 107 out of 600 second-tier prizes of $1,000 and 143 out of 1,219 third-tier prizes of $600 left to win in the $10 "Lady Luck 777" scratch-off game.

The overall odds of winning any prize in the game are 1 in 3.68.
