$31 million is not that much money. (in the lottery world) there are people who have won $100+ million jackpots, im just kinda sick of all these little hits.

Yes, you are correct, pumpi. They did win using a quickpick and they've been pooling their money for about a year. However, what does quickpick have to do with a lottery pool? Even if each of them pooled $5 each a week, they could buy 80 quickpicks. I don't understand your comment. Are you saying that pools should only use personal numbers? That would become very complicated. I'm guessing that most pools buy quickpicks with the money collected.

It's not a surprise to me-

Quick picks are the preferred method of lottery pools. It makes it easy when purchasing the tickets.

It's also not a surprise that a quick pick won the jackpot .This is becoming more and more prevalent.

I am surprise (a little dissappointed) that it was quick picks..On Tv it says that they have been playing for about a year...I thought that they pool in everytime they play...

If you think about it, the stock market and taxes are in a way a form of lottery...

The payout was over 57%, so that certainly isn't weak and $212K is probably equal to 3 or 4 years salary for some of these nurses, maybe more.

They declined to comment on the lottery winnings, which will net each person roughly $375,000 before taxes.

This cannot be right. They chose a lump sum and the payout was $3.4M divided by 16 is around $212K. rdc137 is correct when he estimates they'll each receive a net of about $140K. Not bad.

If that's weak, then you are pretty pathetic. Are these nurses supposed to be sad because they only won 6 million divided 16 ways?

I don't know about you, but I and many others would be thrilled to win a couple of hundred thou for wagering a couple of dollars.

And why is the Florida Lottery to blame for this? It could happen in any state.

You must have a cloud of doom that follows you around.

If they took cash value, after taxes comes to around $140k, which is over 2 years salary to them. Pretty nice bonus check if you ask me.

Thats pretty weak, for one 6 million is not that much money in the lottery world, and two they have to split it up 16 ways. The florida lottery is weak

Sixteen Southwest Florida Regional Medical Center employees apparently are $6 million richer after picking all six of Saturday's winning Florida Lotto numbers.

The employees, who have not yet been identified, purchased the only winning ticket at the 7-11 at 12100 Three Oaks Parkway in Estero.

Margaret Chabris, spokeswoman for 7-11 stores, said a regular customer picked up the winning ticket on behalf of the employees and the group is planning to speak with the media after they pick up thei... [ More ]
