Anyone ever heard of an application called: variable-tracs? As it appears they seem to do a lot more in the hidden arena as well. just think...Today may be u for unique or r for repeat numbers. I am in awe as to determine a t for triples ...You now have a portion of their numbers operation and you now know how lottery drawings are controlled when generated by the computer. I noticed the same thing, but I also noticed that the payouts are lower. I'm not sure if that is because less money is played or if people are still playing and just can't beat those computers. Something I don't understand is why TN moved the lottery drawings up but still can't get the winning numbers out by the times they used to with the ball drawings? It's a valid point, but people are playing a lot less. Check out the stories and you'll see that sentiment many times. Either way, it has got to hurt.

This is the second time in articles posted in LP concerning the TN Lottery's conversion to computer draws where customers seem to universally agree that the conversion was a bad idea - but even with the bad news about the glitches since then, they continue to play. Doesn't sound universal or unanimous to me.....

And, before I get jumped on, I prefer ball drawings myself.

Actually the next problem we'll probably see is Pick 5 results with repeating numbers -- some technician will see that there are no doubles being generated

I prefer to see the ball machine on live tv.

With computer draws there is nothing to see. The first problem was really same as mixing ten balls numbered 0 to 9 in one machine and drawing three balls.

It's still gambling even though they tell us over and over again the profits go to education but when players distrust the outcome of any gambling game, they stop playing.

80 Thousand?? For $80.00 only I could have fixed the RNG program. Seems that they used the same code to generate the Pick3/4 as the Jackpot games and forgot to advise it that only Jackpot games have to flag off the numbers once they're called. Too bad if they go back to ball drawings now that we're getting such a great education on how their programs generate their drawings. I am guessing the next thing would be a Pick-5 or -6 type game with repeating numbers in the same draw?

This shows his concern about the loss of income from lottery sales. Continue to make'em pay by not playing until the ball machines are brought back.

I went to tn.gov website and sent an email to Gov. Bredesen voicing my concerns and requesting the state toreturn to the original drawing process. I received a reply in less than a week. I encourage others to do the same.

And they never make mistakes? A computer by it self is nothing! It's the programming, by a human, that controls the computer. The data in, determines the data out... This is why i don't like or trust computer draws! I prefer to see the ball machine on live tv.

Yes, and you aren't going to eliminate them from Lotto. If they had to tally (check for) winning tickets by hand, there would be no lottery. But the point is you are not taking the computers out of the equation. They will always be a part of the lottery. Now you can change to mechanical drawings again, and that's fine. But you will still be having problems like the second two if you have incompetent employees...because those two problems having nothing to do with how the numbers are drawn.... [ More ]

Incompetent, exactly. But these same two things could have happened if the drawings were mechanical rather than RNG. The point is that they have incompetent people there on the TN LC. People want them to go back to mechanical drawings, yes. But only the first problem has anything to do with RNG drawings. The other two are incompetence. KyMystikal makes a good point. The ATM you pull cash out of is a computer, computers tally your cost at the grocery store. We rely on machines for most everything any more.

Computers aren't the problem...

Computers are used to print the tickets and a computer is used for the televised draw. The giving out a Adult Chat number was a Lottery Commission being incompetent.

A call for an overhaul is coming because of three major mistakes in just one month; the first in August when a computer glitch caused problems with the Lottery's Cash 3 and Cash 4 drawlings.

A few weeks later, the wrong jackpot was printed on Lottery tickets.

A little more than a week after that incident, the wrong numbers for Cash 3 and Cash 4 were televised.
