Just for the record, those Air Traffic Controllers (I knew one of them) signed a contract agreeing that they could never go on strike.

Shutting down air traffic and holding the nation hostage for higher wages was a matter of national security.

They were already making a ton of money compared to other unions.

They broke their bond, they violated their trust, they went back on their word.

President Reagan gave them a chance to return to work while continuing negotiations. They refused.... [ More ]

I'd like to add that McDonalds and a bunch of other large corporations who were recently complaining that they would have to fire employees because they couldn't afford the new Healthcare laws were given waivers to put them above the law and not required to get the government healthcare for their employees.

First off, I have never been giving a leg up , especially lately. My husband lost his job in April, we got our car repossessed in August, we're barely holding onto our home. He has a new job, which pays a fraction of the bills. We are debating whether or not to keep our health insurance next year because of the jump in our contribution. We can't afford it, thanks to the new healthcare reform bill.
