He followed the recommendations, which included buying 19 plays for each drawing to cover all the Hot Ball options.

When I first read this, I thought about the 3 if 4 of 14 numbers wheel with 19 combos that I used many times. But after seeing your suggestion, I believe you nailed it.

Every night at 9 pm is the dead line for buying super cash lottery tickets. At that time the lottery office can go through the computer system and learn what combination of numbers hasn't been sellected or the least amount of winning combination of numbers hasn't been sellected, and just coinsedentally that combination of numbers comes up in the draw. In Florida our Powerball playslips allow us to do that to. I usually pick my own powerball number and let the computer pick the 5 numbers. I always think even if I don't match the powerball I may win $200,000 on the quick pick numbers. Congrats to Larry Dawson on a great win.

I'd love a partial QP box. Whatever numbers aren't selected would be QPs. I'd honestly prefer that to an expensive key wheel, so if I liked to numbers and a mega ball, I could QP the other 3 5 times or something. Although I guess I could find something for that online.

His win doesn't validate any published system...by buying all of the +1 Hot Lotto numbers, he merely gave himself a chance to win something regardless which 5 numbers were drawn. So I wouldn't rush out to buy any book just because he won. Say you're at a baseball game and get up to go to the concession stand or something and right after you do the batters hits a line drive foul ball that would have really injured you.

Not much planning or correct knowledge in that, such things just happen that way.

Take the guy in Iowa, he was about to give up and decided to play one more time. Not luck

Based on the fact they played every bonus number, I strongly suspect it was a wheel. (See my previous post near the start of this thread.)

I use to do something like that with Powerball. I would purchase all the powerball numbers 1 - 40(Before the changed it) and would play quick picks for 20 tickets and mark all the other tickets randomly. The most I won at once was $100 . I spent a ton of money and didnt even get close to the jackpot. I believe a stratgey like that will work with a lottery that doesnt have a lot of digits which explains why and how this guy won. If he is a financial advisory the last thing he should do is gamble

It depends on what the individual state's lottery terminals allow. (That goes for all games, not just Hot Lotto.) Some states have Quick Pick all-or-nothing options, and others allow you to QP just the bonus or the first five numbers.

Whether the winning combo was a QP or not, or birthdays, or ages, or hot and cold numbers, etc..ad nauseum, the fact that a combo he played was the combo drawn still comes down to luck.

I don't think that's the book, because they are playing a relatively small number of picks (19) and Lustig says you have to play as much as you can afford -- not specific strategies like play all the bonus numbers .

And of course there is luck involved. A great deal of it. But the strategy they played certainly helped them as well.

If you think about it, it might just be a really good way to judge the true state of our economy. Another thought

is that he might be needing to shore up some of the accounts he manages. I wonder if there is any connection

between high risk capital and lottery tickets as they both seem to have the same rules, Don't invest more then

you can afford to lose.

I love this story...

A financial advisor buying a how to win the lottery book.

Makes me wonder about the advice given to his clients and what they think after hearing what he was doing. He's telling everybody how to be responsible in allocating their funds and how to invest and save responsibly while he's playing the lottery. I love it.

No, I don't think so.

When I play a system that uses all bonus balls, I most definitely do NOT use the same first 5 numbers on each ticket. I use an abbreviated wheel. Here's an excellent wheel for Hot Lotto. It's a 2 if 2 of 19 wheel that is highly balanced, using each of the 19 numbers you choose 5 times each. It has 19 lines, making it perfect for playing each bonus number once.

You would use all bonus numbers so that you are guaranteed to have a bonus number winner in your set of ticke... [ More ]
