I'm guessing it is less then billion.

587 mil - 325 mil = 252 mil. (increase for jackpot), but this is annuity based, so not real number

719 mil - 587 mil = 132 mil (in second and below prizes)

252 mil + 132 mil = 384 mil in payout.

Even though the jackpot increase is annuity based, and you would think 384 mil is 50%, still not enough for the billion.

But over the course of 16 drawings before it got that big it def-ly took in more than a billion of our earned money.

Does anyone know what the total take, not just the prize, was for this drawing? It's usually double the actual prize, I think.

If the lottery payout is still less that 50%, that difference is an awful big one.

The last big one, the Mega Million drawing, actually took in over a $1,000,000,000.

Yeah everyone is entitled to do as they wish after winning. Hopefully that bill passes in michigan to let the pb/mega winners claim anonymous. If not my family would be already out of state and my house completly emptied before I showed my ugly mug up at the press conference. Espescially with a jackpot of this size. I don't think anonymity is worth the possibility of paying 4% more in federal income taxes... I would want to maximize the amount of money that I could keep. So I wouldn't wait to get my ducks completely in a row before turning in the ticket. They can consult a lawyer and more importantly an accountant after turning in the ticket... it'll take quite a few weeks for the money to be wired to them anyway.

It takes approximately 2-3 weeks anyway to receive the money. I'm struggling financially and there's no bill in this world important enough to get caught up on that I would throw myself on national tv to receive a cardboard check that isn't good for a few weeks. If they're THAT bad, I betcha a bank would give them a loan for a few weeks.

Once you're a lottery winner, there's nothing more important than your anonymity and these people blew it big time. Sad.

Lighten up, Francis. I think people are far too paranoid about the risk of people knowing you won the lottery, but these people don't look like they're displaying a lot of thought, IMHO.

I don't think they're too worried or paranoid about that. With the loot that they now have they will be able to hire security 24/7 without thinking twice about the cost -- they have the money they can afford it.

Celebrities are in the spotlight much more than lottery winners and most of them are left alone and the ones who aren't beef up security... Never heard of any celebrities go into hiding and falling off the face off the earth because they got a few barks from the public. lol

I could care less how they spend their money. I just think it was incredibly irresponsible and careless of them to not claim it in a trust. For goodness sakes, they had their 5-6 year old little girl on national tv?!? I feel bad for them for all of the hounding/kidnapping threats that are coming their way. It could've been prevented. It was obviously more important to them to have a press conference than to protect their family.
