I agree gibbybah640. They would rather cut the scholarship money available than their salaries and bonuses.

I think that maintaining a 2.5 GPA should have been a criteria for scholarships from the very beginning. If the lottery scholarships were awarded after all other options were exhausted, and you worked that hard to get into college, maintaining a C average shouldn't be too difficult.

I've never seen a college or universities' books (pardon the pun), but it seems like the outrageous... [ More ]

Are they truly serious with this..............now that the amount quoted that is allocated to education is almost $300 billion, everyone is opting to maintain their already huge inflated salaries at the expense off student education, and blame it on declining lottery ticket sales.....OMG.

Why is it so ironic that most government official and people in high office world wide (seemingly) are so hell bent on getting ahead even if it means riding on the backs of the poor and persons who can least... [ More ]

Schlorships are merely masking or trying to mask the 800 pound gorilla in the room. Fallig lottery revenue isn't th problem. The run away cost of college tution is the real problem. Why does college tution come with suh an astronomical cost when it never use to be this way? Why does college tution contiues to rise? etc There has been many stories on how college education has become a big scam. As wages continue to fall and the cost of tution continues to rise, that is not good at all.

Interesting that this news article also mentions some of the promises that the pro-lottery politicians in Alabama are promoting. If a lottery fulfills those promises that's one thing, but if the government people are all for it only seeing it as a means to stuff their own pockets that's quite another.
