I would pick my own numbers instead of quick picks.

PowerBall probably knows, ahead of time, what the next combination will be and programs each machine to not generate that combination on the quick pick.

I'm guessing this happens at the early rounds.

This is profitable to PowerBall because, once the jackpot reaches an extremely large amount is when everyone comes out of the woodwork to buy tickets.

Once they feel they've made enough money, the start playing fairly.

The 1/3 California and the NJ jackpost winners have not showed up. Meanwhile, the jackpot goes back down to 40M without the lottery having to pay any money.

Does the 7-11 in NJ have security cameras? They know the exact date and time the powereball machine spit out that ticket. From the security cameras, find out who purchased it.

The winner only spent $6 so basically only bought 1 ticket and won. They choose their own numbers so I m wondering if they played the same numbers for both drawings and if they played these numbers on the regular. I didn't realize where that 7-11 was. In fact if I recall over 12 yrs ago I used to do atms and there was a route that did that area. At that time Trenton nj was weird place. SO I am guessing that this woman that won it is very lucky to say the least. Regular customer for sure. That location is a few blocks from a tattoo shop that I have a machine at. From 1,2,3,4,5,1 all the way to 65,66,67,68,69,26.

There are 104 drawings per year. If no combinations are picked twice, it will take 2,809,628 years to get through all the combinations.

Each number cost $2.00.

For me, and winning that amount from the powerball, it would not be a problem paying the taxes. The example was, paying 75 million in taxes and than having 100 million in the bank, mmmmmmmm, nope it would not take away any joy.

Since I'm not an idiot, yes. Writing a check that big would mean I still had a bit over $100 million in the bank.

The NJ winner may wish they could keep more for themselves, but I guarantee they'll be a lot happier writing that check to the IRS than they'd be if they were a loser whining on the internet about somebody else's tax bill.

Winners should never be forced to pay taxes on lottery winnings. There is absolutely no legitimate reasons why lottery winnings should be taxed. You already pay income, state, sales taxes and some other taxes you are not even aware of. Why do you think that they take 25-33% off the top before even cutting you a check?.

Granted, 1+1 is a nothing win, sort of. But, it's old news. The reason 1+1 is nothing is so the jackpots can grow bigger faster. And despite some saying the jackpots are too big, nobody needs that much money, yada,yada,yada, the fact is, big jackpots sell more tickets. Which is why they made the changes.

I think that jackpot is fly under the radar because everyone will want to see the $429.6 million winner. Next stop July if nobody hits it before then.

I didn't have any tickets for the draw so I won for not losing!

Since the matrix change I tried my luck on 3 tickets on 3 different draws and got zippo.

PB pretty much made the statement that they are a Jackpot only game on their last matrix change.

I don't know when I will buy tickets but at least I know it will have to get over $430 mil. I'm considering jumping in at $600 mil or $750 mil next time.

No i am not kidding , it feels that seems like if u live in the northeast or the midwest , we see more huge jackpot winners. Especially not in the North Carolina , Virginia , South Carolina, Georgia. I was referring to those states. The northeast and midwest have more people that tend to play more. So that means more tickets being sold , giving them better odds , than we do. The five main numbers were on my generic 3 million combinations, so then with the powerball it would have taken 78 million combinations to get the jackpot, unless I had reduced the 3 million more and also the powerball numbers, but I am not set to do such thing, it would take me a few months of study to be able to do such things in the future if I wanted to, but at this time I am not yet so interested in Jackpot games, but reducing 11 million to 3 million that was easy, but for getting generic n... It was, but you also have to take into account the time of year the jackpot was rolling. Around Christmas, a lot more people buy lottery tickets, sending jackpots higher quicker. The closer we get to Summer, the slower sales typically become. So this was a pretty good run-up.

One winning ticket purchased in New Jersey matched the numbers drawn on Saturday night for the multi-state Powerball jackpot for a payout estimated at $429.6 million, the eighth-largest U.S. lottery prize in history.

The winning numbers selected at 10:59 p.m. EDT were 5, 25, 26, 44, and 66, with Powerball number 9. The Power Play multiplier was 2.
