That's clearly not the mess that was being referred to.

By the way move on means re-assessing the procedures to put in new procedures that keep this from happening again.

Again, what's the giant mess you were referring to? It sounds likethey seem to have done what you think they should have done.

justguessin sorry you were ripped off due to their error. I think you have some good ideas there; other states made good on their mistakes on past posts. I hope they can see the forest for the trees and take care of the bottom line...the customer/consumer. Otherwise folks will think twice about participating again thinking it is rigged or a bunch of idiots running the lottery.

I think if someone makes a mistake unintentionally to a person or group of people and is truly sorry they would consider first the one or ones they made the mistake to and make it up to them. That's why it confuses me that the lottery didn't stop after the mistake and say how can we make it up to those left out instead they just held another game with everyone (all the tickets). Very well written article, to condense 138 pages into this post was monumental.

I think it is time to clean house of everyone involved in this. Stuff happens and it is high time responsibility takes some ownership. To me this borders negligence; as if to say 'Let's get this over with (the drawing) and go home.'

They were caught red handed and somewhat drastic action needs to be taken to restore faith in what drives the lottery--the players.

Have you ever WRITTEN policy or procedures? I have, for mixing multiple departments doing a similar process into one process. NOT FUN! Creating the procedures is very difficult, but the end result needs to be VERY simple to follow and easy to understand.

What's the giant mess? I doubt anyone here is interested in reading the entire report, so all we're likely to know will come from the snippets that are reported in the media. The people who actually conducted the drawing obviously screwed up, but how and why they screwed up is a lot more complicated than just entering the wrong number and not catching the mistake.

Again as one of the people left out of the first drawing I want a true result and satisfaction for being eliminated. I want to know how are they going to make it right for the people that were not given two chances to win like the first batch of people. They should have a 3rd drawaing to satisfy those that were neglected in the first drawing. They told me they have already violated policy the first drawing so they can't with the second drawing . Amazing how the state (and everyone involved - auditors, unions ect) can turn something as simple as firing the idiots who messed up into a giant mess!!! Sad that we are in such a deny society and no one steps up to take responsibility for what they do anymore.

A side note on the auditors. I would hope the contact with them would have it spelled out that their job is to AUDIT the process of the drawing. And failure in that one area is grounds for non payment and immediate termination. Thus th... [ More ]

...so Turner put Alfred on paid leave, and Rep Joe Verrengia now says that she ought not be the new CEO of the Connecticut lottery. Turner says she respects Joe's opinion. Anyone who believes that Turner sincerely respects Verrengia's pov- is chasing smoke. When l read it takes 138 pages to fill out a report on a snafu, l could not help thinking of when l was in elementary school and told to fill out 15 pages of l will not misbehave in class.
