Lol. You sound like me but I am not retired. I guess if you have friends and family and a busy life, he does not realize it is not convenient to make a call always. I keep in touch with college friends and old roommates as well so posting a quick note or thought saves time...and in most cases it does not merit a call.

New Jersey tickets have won all or part of 7 different Powerball jackpots since they joined in 2010. For the jackpot on Aug. 7, 2013, two NJ tickets split the jackpot, so technically there have been 8 Powerball winning tickets from New Jersey.

Yes, Facebook and you can also check on their website. I found your post mildy insulting, but am over it.

Also with FB I don't get EMF dangers like that of a cellular phone. Plus since cell phones are really classified as two way radios per the FTC they are easily intercepted.

I just was curious to find out since powerball website says 70% to 80% of tickets are QP's that the jackpot winner would be QP's instead of self picks. I like to see QP's win the jackpot because that is what I play here in Oregon for one or two lines. Granted I know that I will probably never win much becuase I do not play much but I like to see winners say that they won with a QP or picked their own numbers. It is just me I like to know about that if they tell the world when they win their mone... [ More ]

This should not be a surprise to anyone. Indiana joined Powerball on Oct. 14, 1990, and New Jersey joined Powerball 20 years later on Jan. 31, 2010.

When Indiana joined, there were 12 states in the game. When New Jersey joined, there were 43 states in the game.

With a head start like that, I'm not sure that Indiana crowing about a few more jackpot wins makes sense.

A little over 12 million PB tickets are usually sold when the jackpot starts at $40 and it's not far fetched to assume there is a larger percentage of self-picks in that group. IMO the real difference between QPs and SPs is it's highly unlikely any terminal will repeat the numbers on your last QP and if I accidentally miss a drawing I will never see some or all of the SP numbers I played for years being drawn.

I agree with you Weshar. I am always interested in that information as well and find it interesting since I pick my own numbers. If you follow number theory, I always am curious how the numbers were picked as well. I really believe self pick winners may be greater in number than computer picks. If everyone thought it was pure luck only, many would not play.

I was looking at historical Powerball jackpots (since Nov. 2015 when the matrix, thus the game, changed) and this jackpot is the median... 50th percentile. Right in the middle. The average is $397 million (a bit higher because of that record $1.5 billion jackpot in January 2016).

Ever since Powerball reached $1.5 B on 1/13/16, it has reached $758 M on 4/23/17 and all the other jackpots have been $560 M or lower.

It's almost like they don't want the jackpot to get very big.

After around 20 or so rollovers, like magic there is a jackpot winner.

Maybe they should rename it Smallerball instead of Powerball.

It is strange with this format as to why there isn't more bigger jackpots.

A single ticket sold in New Jersey has won the $315.3 million Powerball jackpot in Saturday's drawing, lottery officials announced early Sunday.
