Alabama could have a scratch off-only lottery and still make tons of money

I'm pretty sure several lotteries started by just selling scratch-offs only. The Ohio Lottery started out with a game called Buckeye 300.

Assuming AL ever gets a lottery, many here are wondering if they will allow anonymous claims, or claims through trusts and LLCs.

Now is the ideal time for Alabama to address that. I'd like to see the wording in the bill because it might be included considering they included... [ More ]

Are you guessing another lottery will replace MUSL or will they just change their name

Singleton said he believed the bill defines a lottery too narrowly. I think that it does not create enough revenue, Singleton said. I think it leaves us in the dark age just being a paper lottery.

Most states that have a lottery have only a paper-based lottery and generate plenty of revenue. If he would bother to read other state lotteries' financial reports, available publicly on their websites, he would see a trend of scratch offs making up the majority of sales. I am guessing that a new National Lottery may be in the works. Replacing MM PB.

Without a vote to spare, a plan to let Alabama voters have their say on a state lottery for the first time in 20 years stayed alive today.

The Alabama Senate passed the bill by a vote of 21-12. Twenty-one was the minimum number for passage because the bill is a proposed constitutional amendment, requiring approval of three-fifths of the 35 senators.

The bill moves to the House, where it faces the same three-fifths requirement. If it wins final passage, it would go on the ballot for voters
