Note that it was a roll down secondary prize. secondary prizes are usually distributed from a poll of around $50k

the rule in NZ currently is that a jackpot is must win if it gets to or over $50million.

No one had the six numbers plus powerball (Powerball is a separate prize pool to the Lotto pool.. ) so the jackpot rolled down to the next level -- 10 tickets with 5 numbers, the bonus number, and the powerball number (10 people had all six numbers but not the powerball)

Yikes..

It was a 'can you please check my last week's ticket?' and they were told they were the winners, store owner Andrew Spence said.

l wonder if there are any Patel store owners in NZ? Just asking..

One lucky New Zealand couple was surprised to learn that they held the tenth and final second-tier winning ticket for the country's $51.6 million (US$33.7 million) Lotto Powerball jackpot last week.
