On Nov 7, 2022, I bought my powerball ticket, my computer gave me a combination that matched the winning combination of 2 billion:

only that I chose and almost at random the wrong numbers within that winning combination.

10 33 41 47 56 Winning Powerball

18 36 41 48 59 the numbers of my ticket.

I almost chose 47 and 56 but quickly decided on 48 and 59, and instead of 18 I almost chose 12.

Maybe instead of griping here, you should contact MUSL and insist they give everyone who played PB on the 7th get a free ticket.

You probably haven't thought through how that would be accomplished, what with verifying who actually played and who is lying about playing, and how a retailer would go about printing free tickets.

For ex: when a player wins a free ticket from a ticket they purchased, the free ticket will indicate that.

Anyway, good luck with that.

Thanks for the link. Technical issues have happened before, we just didn't notice them because not as many people were watching the drawings as this time.

I remember years ago Louisiana Lotto had an issue during the on air draw. When they started mixing the balls, there were already some in the tube, like they had already done the draw. It turns out they were testing the machine and the camera before the actual draw and forgot to put the balls back in, so the drawing was delayed by around 30... [ More ]

I think the enormous demand for Monday's drawing just overloaded the computer system, and it took more time than normal to verify everything with their security protocol in place. People weren't just buying a few quick picks, they were buying 100's, and maybe 1,000's of them at a single transaction. That overloaded the system.

I have always felt that a ATM is dangerous for compulsive gamblers. In the stores, there's lines at the ATM, and at the counter to buy the tickets.... [ More ]

This delay was only unique in lasting longer than previous delays, but maybe the winner should claim their cash quickly so they can get in on the investment before the cost of tin foil hats peaks.

The increase I was using was based on a figure that's been updated, and it looks like Saturday's finished at about 800, so the actual increase was closer to 177ish, which matches fairly well with sales of about 276 million tickets.

Floyd there were actually just a shade under 276 million tickets sold. Just about the same as Saturdays drawing just a small bit less. What i want to understand is when you state roughly 330 million tickets sold and that means they sold about 2/3 of the combinations were sold how do you come up with 2/3 of the combinations were sold? i have been saying this for some time. We are not getting a live draw. Instead we get a video that has been edited . Watch the last video before this one . The whole background disappears and the announcer seems to not even notice. My guess is they are pulling videos from a draw previously done.

Either she was reading off the teleprompter with a script that hadn't been updated, or the Lottery drew before all the ticket play data was in. The latter would allow the possibility of someone (an insider) to create a winning ticket record after the draw.

If those numbers are accurate the cash increased by $215 million and that means they sold roughly 330 million tickets. That would be the most for the entire run despite being for a Monday drawing. It also means they sold about 2/3 of the combinations, with the chance of single winner at 36.5%, two winners at 20.6%, and 3 winners at 7.8%.

Have to agree with you on that.

The reality is that many organizations (both public and private) have outdated/antiquated data processing equipment inside their datacenter walls. That's very common.

And with governmental agencies that have and run old iron there's no way the public can ever know they do it. First of all, the public can't even see the hardware, and even if they could, there's know way of telling how old that box is, or the state of the software running on it.

www.kcra.com out of Sacramento has the best story on why the delay occured. It's lottery policy to not name the guilty party that caused the delay.

I highly suspect U.S. Virgin Islands, Guam, or Puerto Rico is the guilty party. We shall see which Banana Republic is at fault!

It will take at least a month for the funds to be collected from every state/territory so the winner better make arrangements on getting a temporary loan to tie them over until the funds get wired if they decide to quit immediately and leave town.
