Thank you for posting this again. It's a numbers game in more ways than one.

In my state(Louisiana), the lottery web site has a Where the Winners Are feature that shows a map where large winning tickets have been sold in the last 60 days. The southeastern part of the state(New Orleans and Baton Rouge), are where the most winning tickets are sold because that is the most densely populated part of the state and generates the most sales. The same can be said for many states I'm sure.

I always play the power play and megaplier but come April the megaplier is baked into the recipe so to speak.

Concerning 2nd tier prizes .. and powerball ... I can see your point to an extent as it pertains to the 10x when the jackpot is 150 mil or less but to not have the 3x and 4x and 5x for matching the 1st 5 numbers is a shame IMHO.

Every time I play, I am always more optimistic of the second tier prize than the actual jackpot.

That is why I always throw in the extra $1 since am assured of a $2M win should I match five numbers.

You're technically correct that a winning ticket has never been sold in Detroit proper.

But if you recall, back in November 2010, a $129 million Powerball ticket was sold at Uptown Bookstore, which is literally just yards outside of Detroit's border in Highland Park (which is even more economically depressed than Detroit proper).

The jackpot was eventually split amongst a (mostly anonymous) syndicate, but I'm wiling to bet some of the folks in that syndicate were also residents of Detroi... [ More ]

Yeah Detroit, has never won the Mega or power ball all the metropolitan cities around it have won. I'm not sure Dearborn, has either its mostly middle eastern. When someone in Detroit, finally win it will be the downtown area where blacks don't patronize much due to everything being so expensive.

The most important strategy that can put other states in Equal Computation Power with California requires a Power of Ten to one of your numbers meaning you must buy a minimum of Ten Tickets.

For example let say you play the number

01. 11. 21. 31. 61. With ball 01

you must convert one of your five digits to power of ten . So let's say l decided to convert 61 to power of ten that means l will buy ten tickets like this

After a run of 30 drawings without a jackpot winner, the 31st drawing of the multi-state Mega Millions game produced a single $1.269 billion winner last night when one lottery ticket sold in California matched all five numbers plus the Mega Ball.

It was the 12th time a lottery jackpot had grown to more than $1 billion, and the 11th time a single ticket won $1 billion or more.
