I went back to Shop n' Save maybe a hundred times

How about the charity? They may have some idea where donations from a particular time and place went, and they might make some effort if they were promised a nice donation if they can recover it. Of course it would be far more likely if they knew to start looking 9 months sooner.

So true, I keep mine in one of those plastic lottery ticket holders. A clear one for winners and a blue one for slips to fill and purchase more tickets.

They don't always happen to be a jackpot .. It is just that no one cares (is interested in) about a story of someone misplacing a $2, $4, 412, $50, or even $200/ $500 ticket

So there are no stories about them. (Also, probably so many of them that it long ago ceased to be newsworthy

I don't buy paper tickets anymore, I only play online. With online tickets, your can't loose them. Also, small prize amounts are automatically credited to your account. If you win a large amount, or a jackpot, they contact you. It is definitely a win win situation, compared to old paper tickets.
