It's a gimmick that rarely pays for itself. Most of the wins are $4 or $8.

A better strategy is to spend yet another dollar (total $4) and buy two tickets with the same numbers but a different pb number. Same $2 million second prize but two shots at the jackpot.

I wouldn't spend the extra dollar and if I won a million dollars, I wouldn't be frustrated at all

Good for the winner but another case where an extra dollar not played cost a million not won (pre tax). If it's frustrating to me it most be to the winner.

An Illinois lottery player rediscovered an old, forgotten lottery ticket sitting in his drawer and decided to repurpose them for another Powerball drawing, winning a $1 million prize.

An Illinois resident wasn't about to pass up the chance to play for a billion-dollar lottery jackpot, so he dug out an old ticket from his drawer and decided to put it to use.
