I don't know why their in trouble they report that 570 million lottery dollars went to fund education. And the state has whopping 20 billion dollar school fund. Sounds like mis- management to me. Illinois only contributes 33 cents for every dollar spent on lottery tickets. The other money coming from other sources. Somebody has their hand in the cookie jar. However a while back I think i read or heard a story that Illinois has one of the best run school systems.

The reason schools are in jeopardy even with lottery proceeds going to them is because sometimes the states cut funding to the schools from other sources, and the lottery ends up becoming the entire source of the school's budget.

Right now for Powerball the have made a profit of more than $145 million from fools like us.You can look at lottery profits any way you want. When people play the lottery they are also relieving some of our tax burden. If it weren't for the lottery our taxes would be much higher than they are now. Some states filter the profits to state run programs which is a good thing. The problem is regardless of where they get the profits from is their management of the funds. So in essence when you play the... [ More ]

Getpaid I see from some of your previous posts that you play powerball. I can't think of a better investment for the price of a buck. Sure the odds are against us winning, but the people who win don't say that. They might say wow I can't believe it I won 125 million dollars. Or whatever amount they might have won. It really is a shot in the dark now isn't it. Just imagine you sitting in your chair when the draw your numbers.
