it should automatically default to 'arial 10', that's the normal font unless you may have been tweaking the style settings...If you have strange font and point size problems, the simplest fix in the world is to close excel, then go to START||SEARCH|Find Files or Folders.... (various paths to the search screen depending on windows version... once on the search screen, find the filenormal.dotthen delete it and relaunch excel... what this does is erases any style changes you may have accidental... Maverick, what I usually do is use the cells in row 1 for column headings and column A cells for things such as drawing numbers or drawing dates.

In excel, right mouse click the selected cells, then select FORMAT CELLS and in the next window, select BORDERS You can then define the line weight (thickness), color, appearance, etc...Sir MetroPS: A great, inexpensive help is a book called Excel for Dummies, well written with pictures to help guide you. Found at most book stores, Walmart, etc...

Mav something to think about is making a workbook or sheet and call it practice sheet then you won't lose any data you have by mistakes. In the practice worksheet you can copy and paste info there and try the things you want to do. When you get a handle on the different features and get the sheet to look like you want, then you can transfer the info to the original worksheet.

Yes, that's where I went yesterday. I typed in 1 in the box and clicked OK. But that still only lessened one box, not the whole spreadsheet. Thanx for the help though.

At the toolbar on the top:Format>Column>Widthwill permit you to adjust the column width for the entire spreadsheet, less those individual columns you have already adjusted.gljohn

You can also go to format cells and changes the width. I write formulas in excell all day long. And also put some lotto stuff together. IM me if you have any formula questions

Honey BeeI work with excel and may be able to help you. What do you mean by not staying in color? Do you mean in the printing or when you look at it on your desktop? Once you type a number in a cell in color and then go to the next cell, the color goes off and to my knowledge won't stay on. If you want more than one number in color, to my knowledge (which may be limited), you will have to select/highlight all the numbers you want in color and then go the the color chart on the tool bar and...
