It looks like California Midday has the 27 or 72 pair as the hottest with 20 hits in the last 100 draws. So, I'm going to try 27x box for awhile and see if that works.We have 20 minutes before today's draw.

I don't follow pairs, but maybe someone that does can give us some insight into which pair (straight pair in this case) is HOT for a particular state. If not straight, then maybe box, but I like the straight idea.

The problem with chasing anything overdue or cold is that things that are cold tend to stay cold. Some months ago a LP member warned me via PM that there was a pair in the California Evening Pick 3 draw that had not hit in a long time. I think it was 6 months. We both started playing that pair (all 10 combos) box every evening. He said I was chicken if I quit playing it before he did. We never did talk about it after that. Your original message appears that you are trying to hit the combination straight, not boxed. If you are trying to hit boxed, then yes, only ten combinations. If you are trying to hit straight, and you are playing the 83 pair, it could come in 83, or 38. If you play 183 straight and it comes in 138, you wouldn't have it covered in ten combinations.Is this boxed or straight you are trying to hit

The prize will be $500. It seems spending $10 a day is alot, but since that back or front pair will hit soon, there will be a profit. Try playing, using 50 cent wagers, to win $250, If ten dollars is too much. At that point that the number is so overdue, you should't have to wait a long time for a payoff. Remember, it would take 50 days for you to spend 500 dollars and even out.

Well, let me clarify that for you, Badger. Considering the number 83 is overdue, then you would play that number. why would I pick 83 if 83 is not the overdue number? As of this moment the most overdue number in the front pair is 57. The most overdue number, to dat in the back is 07. Why would I play 70? or 75? However, you can play multiple pairs, that you feel can show up.Remember folks, this system is only designed for straight hits.

Using your example, I'm assuming the 38 pair is the most overdue in this case. So...if you assume that it will come in as a back pair, and you add the digits 0-9 in front of it, how do you know it won't come in as 83 in stead of 38? So to cover your bases would require you to double the number of combinations. It would cost you $20, not $10.
