Seems to me the clerks are actually the ones only thinking of themselves. Instead of begging off of others supposed winnings, throw a few bucks down and play the damn game yourself! It ain't like the clerk is going to remember you when they win either. If they have it that bad in a job where they are reliant on customers winning the lottery, they need to re-evaluate their own employment status.If you helped everyone with your winnings you would no longer be a winner real fast. Let's consider the possibility that our fellow Lottery Post members may work at a lottery retailer.How many times have you heard a customer ask the employee, This is the winning ticket, right? or something of that nature. I'm fine with lottery winners giving money to store clerks, if they choose, but I just dislike the thought that some clerks think that they are owed a part of it or something.

Heck sirbrad, all the states are different in the amount that the retailer gets for selling the jackpot ticket! I know here in Delaware they only get $10,000. Yes, some of the other states get a lot more, that I know! But some states (like Delaware) are greedy and they only give 10 grand! But that might be because the state of Delaware gives a higher percentage of total sales to the retailers (like 5 cents of every dollar sold) I just don't know what they give to them, other than the 10 grand.... Many store clerks have complained that the payoff goes to the store owners and their smiles and encouragements to the customers get them nothing if the customers don't give them something.

I have told everyone including all family member that I would not give anyone anything. Be consistent and no one can argue that. The people at the stores in my area incourage me every time I go in there to play the lottery. That's because they know if someon one happens to be lucky enough to hit PB in CT they will get a cool $$1,000,000 just for selling the ticket. I bleive this is the same in every state.How about giving a rebate check to all the lottery players out there that loose the money instead of giving it to the stores like the online casino's do....hmm maybe....Powerplayer

If stores would put up a notice REPORT ANY EMPLOYEE TO THE MANAGEMENT THAT ASKS FOR PART OF YOUR LOTTERY WINNINGS , that kind of nonsense would stop but I think some stores use that to attract workers for low wages.

I have this convience store near my house and there the only ones with every instant ticket available and they also have 2 lottery machines. Most stores here in CT only have one unless it's close to NY for all those PB players.At work it's a bad subject. I have won multiple of times with my #'s and yet I get people at work that say don't even talk about the word lottery. I know it shouldn't surprise me, but when people make comments like that it does. People seem to have lost their manners somewhere along the way and I just think it's rude to say things like that. I have never asked a stranger if he will tip me if he wins the lottery or if he will spilt the jackpot with me.

I think some people get jobs at places that sell lottery tickets so they can say Good luck and don't forget me when you win to every lottery player. One time I cashed in a $500 ticket and the clerk asked if I had forgot her tip. She made the comments half jokingly but I think she was really serious and would have been pissed if I had given her an extra 50 . I gave her a wink and a smile instead.

I had people ask me the same question and my answer was: I will give you your share, that would be half, when you pay for Your HALF of the tickets! And I hold my hand out! LOL. I have had people tell me I was wasting my money on the tickets that people don t actually win the lottery! I tell them I went to the store the other day and handed the lotto clerk 50 cents and went the next day, handed them a ticket, and they gave me 250 bucks change! Ha! That will make them think

I have that happen to me quite often. My reply, How much are you willing to contribute towards my loses? That usually settels that little matter. Although, I know they are joking it really puts a lid on it.
