i agree that sitting in a school is sooooooo boring.i can pick up things quick with books or whatever without having to sit in a stifling environment with people i don't know.....

learned more on my own and job exp. in computers then I will ever learn in school. PPTotally agree. The only way to learn.The Navy had that problem. I was in it.Can you imagine an OCS graduate calling the shots, when there is a Senior Chief with 35 years of on hands training, being told what to do by a wet behind the ear OCCIFER, right outta schoolin'?This very thing occurs all the time in the Navy.

Well,I have a decent education. I have been to college 3 times. I have a AS in computers and over 15 certifications includeing MCSE and many more.I'm educated mainly in electronics since that is what I love and have a nack for.I agree with being in a classroom. It's boring!! That is why I'm not in college anymore. I dropped out of my last one because I knew more about computers then the teachers did. GO FIGURE!!I enjoy learning on my own. Same here, I also went to college twice and dropped out. I'm 40. Don't like being in a classroom. It's too boring for me. I'd rather work, I have to pay the bills.

I made it through a year of grad school and 30 years later I'm broke. I think I had more money in high school mowing lawns and babysitting. They always say that most people who buy lottery tickets are uneducated, but from the looks this board, I'd say most of us know our ABCs. Then there are a few who know duh? huh

My choice was other. I had an associate degree at DVC in December 2003., but I didn't get hooded until around my 23rd birthday in May 2004.

The Navy I remember being assigned to had a rule, you only went over a Chief's head once, then he put your head on his trophy cabinet. I was Army, and a sub was transporting us. I went straight to the Captain to set up egress training. NEVER did that again. Found out you can get very wet on deck in the middle of a storm.

LOL. Sirbrad....It reminds me of the Navy. You have officers, right out of the academy, trying to call the shots, above a senior chief. What a joke, the senior chiefs and the master chiefs have so much more hands on experience, coupled with the time put in, maybe 20 to 40 years, has a lot more credence, than just some rookie officer, like an ensign.You're right though, specialization is where the big money is.

A generalized education is not nearly as important as a specialized one. I know drop outs who have their own business and are making far more money than those who graduated high school and college. But it is nice to have a good general education to fall back on if you do not have any other talents that you can manifest into lucrative prospects. Some drop outs are actually some of the richest people in the world.
