I would hardly call it an investment. If I made a major investment today, I dont care what the interest rate is, I should atleast expect 1% back from the investment.

Most people spend their whole life investing in the lottery and getting next to nothing in return on that investment. Ofcourse, there are the lucky few who actually make more than they invest in the lottery. Most likely I'm not going to be one of those lucky few. Well, when you invest income you've paid taxes on, you pay taxes on the income that income generates, so it really isn't different if a $1 "investment" produces a windfall of hundreds of millions of dollars.

I totally agree with you. Unfortunately, there is no going back on taxes. You see how hard is was for George Bush to pass his relatively small tax cut, and he's going to have to fight even harder to keep it.

I should write a blog entry on that one day.

Once these Washington legislators get their hands on your money, it's impossible to keep them away. Money is what gives them their power, and we all know they love power.

You and I both pay federal income tax on our income right now. We are using our money after paying federal income tax to buy lottery tickets.

Twisted, your argument may work in favor of no states taxing lottery winnings, but the US government doesn't receive a dime from state run lotteries other than by taxing the winners of large prizes.

As I stated, I have no problem paying taxes, nor do I have aproblem with flu shots. Without taxes, this country couldn't protect its citizens. I like protection. I just don't like the people spending the taxes on their personal projects or to get re-elected.

I beg to differ that I was incorrect because I said the Powerball would roll to $310M. After sales are counted up for next Wednesday's drawing... it should spike up to almost $310M.

Actually next jackpot is only 94 million, because if you take cash (and I think it`s wiser choise) you have to pay 35% to Uncle Sam, so 145*0,65=94,25.

Thats why I think that Euromillions is by far the gratest game in the World.

Well, you were half right. Powerball did roll over, but only to $300 million (I'm surprised it didn't go to $310 million though). Since this is the second time it's made it to $300 million since the matrix change, and it hasn't even been six months yet, $300 million is the new jackpot marker for me to buy three Powerball tickets or for me to even play Mega Millions.
