Makes no difference whether the guys threw themselves on hand grenades or some other act of courage or got knifed by some slikkeeboy in an alleyway behind a bar in Manila. Doesn't matter whether the war had anything to do with protecting freedoms we might or mightn't have had then, might or mightn't have now. Those folks lost their lives or their faculties while wearing uniforms.

It sure it means different things to different people just like all other holidays. Some people lost family to wars and they would most likely be the ones to shed tears with mixed emotions and have moments of silence. Me, I desensitized myself to it. I hate dead, I hate cemetaries, I hate TAPS, etc. and even though war is necessary sometimes, I dislike it too.

But I do have admiration for those who have fought in our countrie's wars and can identify with what scars it leaves.

Me too, but maybe some people do not know. I know they will enjoy the day off from work, but I doubt very many will show up at their local cemetery to watch and listen to the special ceremony that will be put on by organizations such as the Fleet Reserve Association, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the American Legion.

For too many Americans, it is a day to go to the beach and/or drink beer, etc.
