I agree, I think the LP prediction board is an excellent place to test any lottery theory or system. It may have flaws but they apply equally to every predictions.

I prefer using a system to pick numbers even if it doesn't work because I enjoy the challenge of picking a winner even when I lose (more enjoyment for the buck). I plan to predict more WV Cash25 and keep an eye on Padawan's results also, maybe I will be convinced that picking numbers using Expert Lotto is more enjoyable t... [ More ]

Until recently, a month or two ago, I believed getting the hit ratio up sufficiently high could put a person on the positive side, which I haven't discounted yet.

I don't know that anyone here is capable of actually defining a jackpot system. Most of the systems I've seen around here are just intricate ways of re-randomizing or rearranging numbers. In the end, I guess it doesn't really matter if you can cash for more than you're pumping into the lottery. Or maybe all you have to do is get your money's worth in fun and excitement.

The Fibonacci QP System..That is a system.

1. It has predictive power

2. It must be trasparent, ie anyone using the same data and same methiods will come up with the same

predictions.

3. States and dates

4. Suggest whether to play in position (straight) or combinations (box).

The Fibb QP system meets all these criteria.

Regarding my answer, I'm one of the 84% (as of this writing) who picked must be capable of winning more $ than losing because it just seems obvious that nobody wants to be continously in the red. So the question is over what period of time?

If I thought I had a good system and I lost a lot of money using that system for 5 years and then won $10 million, is that really a system? I don't think so. I think it's a coincidence.

Which is not the same as saying there isn't one, nor that there can't be one.

If I were to play 20 lines in cash 5 in S.C. wheeling numbers a certain way and if I caught 4 of 5 on about 6 lines that would amount to about 1,800.00

3 of 5 does not pay much.

Do that often enough would keep you in the game money wise until the big one hits.

I do not know what you would call doing that. System, method or sh as luck.

I checked Padawan's tests and he seems to be to beating the the West Virgina Cash25 (6/25) game until I checked the facts. The prediction board assign match 5=$5000, match 4=$100 and match 3=$5 for all pick 6 games including 6/49 games. According to West Virgina lottery website the state actually pays a lot less for its 6/25 game. West Virgina pays match 5=$250, match 4=$10 and match 3=$1, so if Padawan was actually playing the WV Cash5 he would be actually winning a lot less and showing a lo... [ More ]

Seems like 80%+ of the participants in this poll believe a lottery system must be capable of winning more money than it cost to play (kinda like being paid to pay). Since most lottery prizes are 10% or less of odds of the dollars spent:dollars won, a system must be capable of beating the odds by at least 1000% consistently. Anyone who designed such a system would have no reasons to be ashame if it won the jackpot more than once

What we care about passionately in our 20's isn't even an issue once we're in our 40's or so.

(One of my random observations: By the time the average person can afford their dream car , their dream car doesn't fit their lifestyle.)

Where I am in mine, I figure a major jackpot win would carry some heavy baggage along with it spilling over to create all manner of problems for some people I care about, who'd have to deal with it, along with my eventual carcass.

only because need win only once in a lifetime wasn't there!

For Pick 5, more than once would be nice, but even if you hit once you'll never forget it. Probably remember the numbers, too.

For Pick 6 since we're talking jackpots you definitley need hit only once.

I've just got a hunch that the most complicates system / method of picking numbers ever posted here would take a back seat to something like this:

Thanks Jack i hope so. I've spent a great deal trying my wheeling system and came to a conclusion that unless i input the winning numbers and generate enough tickets then i am literally throwing money away. And if you don't have all five or six numbers in the wheel depending on the game being played it's worthless in capturing the jackpot.

Using too many numbers drives up the cost of tickets. Selecting the right numbers could be as easy as using two or three numbers that hit the last game out... [ More ]

1. Recognizing a consistent anomaly occuring within any pool of (jackpot) style lottery numbers.

2. Capitalizing on that anomaly by bringing it into view and presenting it in a consistant statistical format.

3. Establishing rules to accomplish the highest value in wagering bets.

4. Presenting the total package in a manner that promotes thought, participation, and personal choices.

Your reasoning rhymes well with my own on Pick 5 and other JP games. However, there's cause to believe we're using the word system incorrectly by one set of standards.

I gather a system that wins consistently isn't a system if it doesn't give everyone the same results always.

Which doesn't take anything away from the method that wins, but certainly cuts the word 'system' off at the knees and devalues it where lotteries are concerned.

A good system for smaller games like Pick 3, Pick 4 should over time win more $ than is spent playing on the same games... but for jackpot games it's different because you can win one time your whole life and justify everything spent up to then. I'd gladly use a system that missed all 6 balls every time until one time it got all 6 at once. It might lose $500 a year with nothing to show for it and then win $50 million

I think we all interchange the two terms loosely (method vs. system). My background comes from years of horserace handicapping and their definitions.

The only difference between 'method' and 'system' is semantics. It doesn't matter when you're winning with either one.

Here's my take on it (couldn't vote with options offered):

My idea of a system is a rule-set that allows any and every player to come up with the exact same selections every time given the same data.

A method is a similar mechanical 'approach' to that same set of data but that can lead to different conclusions.

There is strict objectivity using a system. There is some subjectivity using a method. Both are mechanical to some extent.

Random numbers (quick picks) are neither... [ More ]

Some have referred to Gail Howard software as a system, but everyone who uses it comes up with different results. I think a lottery system can be as simple as buying a few quick-picks or complicated as analyzing past drawings and wheeling or picking combinations of hot, cold and over due numbers.
