I would be cool and collected, but I imagine that I would be in shock, checking and rechecking my ticket. I would probably go to the lottery office within days. Then I would get a financial advisor or lawyer to put me on the right track. The plan would be to split the money 3 ways among me and my immediate family and I would want to give about 60,000 to select co-workers....but how would I do that anonymously

The only problem with helping specific people - and charities, for that matter, is knowing where to draw the line, knowing when you are being taken advantage of, knowing when to say 'no'. Then again, I am just speculating....

Don't go there.

And as far as the 'my family' part, be careful in how you define 'family'.

If my parents were still alive, I'd take care of them, if my siblings were deemed worthy, I'd pay off their mortgages and/or set up a trust to put their kids into a college (not HARVARD), and that's where I draw the line. I find it interesting that so many people want flashy cars. I don't think there's anything wrong with wanting one, but I'd probably buy a Honda Civic hybrid - 50mpg! In the early 90s I dated a man with a red Ferrari Testarossa and felt terribly uncomfortable in it. I don't like being the center of attention.

My first response would be one of joy and happiness. Then the next business day I would be at the lottery office to start the process of getting the winnings. It definitely would be a fun time in my life. Just think of all the things you could do with some cash like get debt free. The last time I won something like that I was checking a bunch of tickets from the previous 2 weeks or so against the readout on my Pocket PC. It was a big jolt to see all 5 numbers match and first thing we did was go straight to ELE7VEN to check it, but when the guy said what the jackpot was I was a bit disappointed but still very happy that I had beaten such odds with only two plays.

A jackpot of $14million is a nice sized pot and still small enough not to gain you too much media attention. And you would still net around what $5million? I know Florida doesn't have state income tax so would you only have to pay only federal taxes? Anyways I like playing the Florida lotto I think its one of the best state lotto games in the country.

This is a good question but you can't do just one of them, i would try to remain calm, i would wait a couple weeks before i did anything, i would try to go straight to the lottery place and claim the money before i told any family and friends about it. i would also be very nervous and scared, just because thats such a big responsibility to have that much money and not blow it.

Other for me.

Before I claimed my prize I would take a picture while holding the ticket, photocopy it front and back, and then put it away. Then I would rent a house or apartment in a large city in the state I won it in. Set up the phone, bank, drivers license and utilities while still living and going about my business as usual in my hometown.

This way the announcement would say Jane Doe in Houston won the lottery. Not Jane Doe in Tinytown.

Need to be able to select multiple answers. Would definitely keep it to myself, try to stay calm, go immediately to a lawyer (which isn't one of the selections), and get to the lottery office ASAP if not sooner. Of course it'll probably happen like this: have a heart attack, call 911, go to the hospital ASAP is not sooner. And then contact the ambulance driver to get back the winning ticket he happened to find under my body.
