I just wanted to take a moment to clear up the difference between SUM

and ROOT SUM:

SUM is arrived at by adding the three Pick 3 digits together for a two

digit total. (example: 9 + 9 + 8 = 26

ROOT SUM is arrived at by adding the two digits from the two digit total

together for a one digit total. (example: 2 + 6 = 8)

SUM ROOT SUM

00 = 0

In Canada we can cash up to $1000.00 at corner store so i keep my bets at that or under that for a win, if i want to play $5 i will play 2 $2 tickets and 1 $1 ticket or what ever, than you can just keep going back to the store until you got all your CASH

If you play $5 exact order and it wins, yes, you win $500 x 5= $2500. You can only cash that ticket in at a Texas Lottery Headquarters and yes you have to fill out the IRS form. The IRS will send you a bill for about $700+ if you do not voluntarily calculate and pay them their tax.It may take a year or two for them to catch up with you but, trust me they will and it will be at the worst possible time. Thanks Raven62 and Coin Toss. Didn't mean to stir things up. I just started playing Pick 3 this month. I don't play every day. I am down about $140 for the month of October. I have hit 2 out of 3 numbers twice, but no cigar yet. With such a small BR, that's why my combinations are so tight. I think I'll take your advice and watch and read what you folks advise.

I was just trying to put the Betting and the Winning on the same scale. Everyone Bets with the expectation of Winning, so if Henny Bet $20 each day for 30 days and each day he expected to Win $500 and if he infact did Win each day at the end of 30 Days he would have had the tidy sum of $15,000 minus $600 or $14,400. If Henny hit twice in 30 days he'd be $400 to the good, which is more or less what he said he was looking to do.

Actually, no - he's trying to win a Pick 3 on any given one day, which by his own admission hasn't happened yet.

More importantly, if he's betting $600 per month on an income of $1432 and has not had a winner, trying to win $15,000 is not his biggest problem.

Since he said he has not had a winner let's say he's trying to win $500 (or $600 or whatever the payoff for that particular Pick 3) once, and if he's indeed stuck $600 a month, every month, he could hit and not 'get out'.... [ More ]

Never give the house the chance to stand to win from you what you stand to win from the house.

In other words, if you're putting up $1 trying to win $500, the house is only going to beat you out of $1, you stand to win $500.

DAMN! Just looked at tonight's drawing. My strategy was too tight again! My first number, column 1, I bet on a 3 or a 4. Should have added ONE MORE to get a winning 5 for that column.

It looks like I have gone from a roulette wheel with 37 slots to a wheel with 1,000 slots with each slot containing 3 numbers. Can we say Mission Impossible

Welcome Henny. This is a great site, all the people are very helpful and generous and you will find tons of information, statistics and P3 winning #s. Sounds like you're not afraid to study and that you realise the obvious value of reducing the odds from 1000 to 1. A really good chart to plot and track the numbers is very helpful. HennyB, I dont think you are dreaming at all. If you were to play that 20 dollars eveytime the big games play , you may be dreaming like the rest of us. Sometimes dreams come true though. I agree with Raven. Watch the Texas posts and not only watch but get involved. Post what you think may hit and then watch and learn. Look at what you post and how it went and improve on it. Thanks for the reply Sweet Sexy. I am very, very new to the lottery and PICK 3. College degree in Math however, so the math part I have read does not scare me.

Since my gross income is now Social Security, I can't exactly afford to play 40 numbers each night. My favorite game is PICK 3 at night. I spend most of the day looking at the numbers and looking for patterns. Then, I go to Albertsons and purchase my tickets. The maximum I have played in one game so far has been about 20 numbers....
