In Mr Gold case its different. His friend helped him finance the buy-in and promised him a share of the winning is considered a verbal contract. I would have just used my credit card or a bank loan.

The store clerk said to me if you won I just want one million. I took my ticket and said nothing and left the store.

Boy!!

Are you right on target!! I have seen this scenario play itself out so many times it makes my eyes bleed. There have so many law suits between winners and other folks saying they promised them money it defies logic.

The winner of the big one splits the cost of several tickets with some folks, wins the Lottery and everyone wants an exact share althought nothing was promised.

OR, someone thinks that the winner said something about splitting the winnings.
