i would tell my mom only, everyone else who is already tight with me they know that i normanlly spend on them any way, so they wouldnt be a problem, and i would hook them up with some surprise gifts ,( cash ) and since i work for a a courier company they would only know that some distant family member died and sent them some money from his last will and testament, and all at diffirent times so as not to have them wanting to do a search for this dead family member, and i would live happly ever a... first thing i would do

1. call the state to verify the ticket...

2. photo copy the ticket about 10 times and then put ticket in safety deposit box and then call my father..

3. From there i would set up appointments with a tax attorney, financial advisor, civil lawyer ect..

4. I wouldn't tell anyone else until i went to the lottery office which would be within a week of winning....waiting to long can tie up the money from jackasses claiming they won the ticket but lost it ect...... [ More ]

I will tell absolutely no one until I hand over my winning ticket to the lottery official.

Then the lottery office clerk will check my background info and everything.

California Lottery Commission doesn't do electronic fund transfer, so I'll have to pick up the check myself.

I wouldn't want their numbers because if they knew they were winners, they would play them themselves, I was speaking of a copy of their software that pick winning numbers regularly. I've already had people PM about allowing me to play thier numbers for a price and spliting my winnings with them, but their predictions stats were worst than mines. I'm not interested in making them rich, I'm about making me rich.

Thank you for stating the obvious. If the drawings are not rigged, no one system works any better than the next. If your system works, you either just got lucky or are in on it.

If you use a system of any kind to pick the numbers you play and those numbers happen to win how will you know that your system picked the winning numbers as opposed to the drawing picking the numbers you played

I would tell my wife first, then immediate familly and really close friends. After things settle down then any other friends, etc.

If I won using software created by someone else that was obtained for free I would surely give them a piece of the pie. If it was a software that I purchased I don't see the need give up any of your cash

But would you split it? I noticed the wink so I know you had your tongue in your cheek while typing, but one reason I don't want to use anyone else's numbers is it would open up that proverbial can of worms. I guess you could offer a commission

Depends, if I won it using software someone at LP wrote and gave me, I would let them know their software worked. That way they would at least have some bragging rights.

I've thought about this so many times. What's the point of having money if you can't share? I'm not married, but I have 2 sisters. One of them is living on Social Security and a small pension so I would want to send her at least the $12,000 tax exempt gift every year, plus pay for all her Medicare supplement premiums doctor/dentist bills. I totally agree. Loose lips sink ships. It may be an old WWII saying but in this case it is appropriate.

It might be okay after a while, for sure after you have the money in your hot little hand. However, if you tell too many you become a mark for those who would try to take it by whatever means that is open to them.
