Different ppl have different opinions. My view is that Quick Picks is a waste. I always think playing lottery as some kind of investment and I only play pick 3/4 where the chances of winning is good. I only bet when I feel confident of winning.

My numbers have the exact same chance of hitting as any other set of numbers. Please don't play my lucky numbers. I don't think anyone has the nerve. Here they are:

I voted no because I am of the opinion that every set of numbers has the same chance as any other set of numbers.

I live by the theory that each number drawn is not influenced by previous numbers drawn. This means (for PB) that you have a 5 in 55 chance of matching the first number. Then for the second number, you have a 5 in 54 chance of matching that number; unless you hit the first number then your chances are 4 in 54. For some reason machines in Illinois sometimes simply will not take a properly filled out play slip for a Pick 3 or Pick 4.

Sometimes it happens on other games, but usually it's those two.

Maybe I'm so far downstate our machines are still first generation or something, but it happens kind of often.

I've also had one machine not take a playslip but another one in another store would.

Oh, that's a good idea. However, I wonder what would happen if there was an error? I went to the do it yourself car wash a couple of days ago and put my dollar into the change machine. I held my breath during those 5 seconds I waited until the quarters came shooting out! I'm sure we've all lost a dollar or 2 in a vending machine. On the other hand, there's less chance of human error because a clerk hit the wrong key.

Justxploring....regarding your comment about self service machines, they exsist in California. I have noticed the machines mostly in grocery stores. They take cash and you can play pretty much every on line game. Also the on line machine allows one to check their tickets and allows for both quick and self picks. Usually right next to this machine is a dispenser for scratcher games.

With all the paranoia about fixed lotteries and terminals, I can't see there ever being any kind of self-serve affair.

That poor guy playing for the group, his experience is reason enough never to volunteer to be the runner .

Which is one reason we see so many QPs winning!! On the other hand, I stood next to a man in 7-11 once who was playing for a group. He had 100 numbers or more. Drove me nuts since there were lots of errors on the cards. Some had 7 marked, some had 5. So the clerk (who was very patient) kept asking him which number do you want to add? and which number do you want me to erase? I voted No . Using past daily profit percentages of the Pick 3 and 4 games posted on the prediction boards at LP, the profit percentages come very close to the profit percentages expected for that game using random numbers....50%

There is no apparent advantage on LP of playing either way.

It's really ridiculous to kvetch about where winning numbers came from. If anything could provide me with a set of numbers that brought $2,000,000 to $200,000,000 I don't think I'd whine and moan about not having picked them myself.

To deny that quick picks win, or the most winners are quick picks, is about the equivalent of comparing major league baseball to tether ball.

The closest that I have came to some real money has been with a quick pick

I prefer to pick my own numbers but I once got a 4 out of 5 in a 5/39 game

with a quick pick. Picking my own numbers has gotten me 3 out of 5 more times

than quickpicks but the 4 out of 5 was a quickpick. I say mix it up between

quickpicks and your own selections

Since 70% of jackpot winners are QP's, they clearly aren't a waste of money. At least not any more than all lottery tickets are a waste, in that you should expect to lose 50% of what you spend.

As far as the types of combinations that win with QP's, nobody will ever win with a combination they don't pick. well everyone has a different view on this so I'll add my two cents. quick picks win more often because more people buy quick picks. since the lottery balls have no idea what numbers you got or wether you bought a quick pick or picked your own numbers it all boils down to luck.

if you bought the quick pick with the winning numbers on it you'll be one of the many people who are then convinced that quick picks win. last year i had several qpicks that won 150.00 It just wasn't in the cards for... [ More ]

Here we go again!! So far I've played 2 of my own for about 12 years and added 2 more a few years ago, and I buy a couple of quickpicks now and then. I shouldn't, but sometimes I'm foolish enough to believe I really have a chance of winning a jackpot. The $5.50 I won (3 out of 6) on Wed was from a quickpick, so I took that $5.50 and added 50 cents and played my 4 and added 2 quickpicks for a total of $6. Quick Picks aren't a waste. The numbers are chosen at random on the Quick Pick, and so are lottery results. However, I do play my own numbers.

Considering that I and a few other co-workers just spent $200 on quick picks for Mega last night and did horrible...I voted yes! But I read the comment about a losing ticket being a losing ticket no matter how the numbers were derived and I have to agree with that.

It doesn't matter whether you buy quick picks or pick your own numbers because the percent of winners among both are about the same. More players buy QPs because they think it's a waste of time and effort to pick their own numbers, some even think it's a waste of time to check their own tickets so they depend on a clerk to check them.

I don't buy QPs because I enjoy picking my own numbers and checking my own tickets even if they're not winners.

Quick picks are not a waste. If you are having trouble picking your numbers, it's the easiest way to get a random combination. I usually do a mix of both. Since the numbers they draw are completely random, like the previous comment-- a losing ticket is a losing ticket no matter how you look at it.

In things lotto , you can't judge anything by the last few drawings.

Go to most any state lottery website and subscribe to the results / winner's list e-mail for your game of choice. Track the results for awhile and see how many winners were quick picks and how many weren't.

out of the thousands of dollars i've made and spent on the lottery i've maybe spent 20 or 30 bucks on quick picks and i never made a cent.i like to pick my own numbers when i spend money.just my choice.i know quick picks hit for millions but there also millions who play quick pick for years with very small money made in return.personally i don't think its worth it but thats just me.

ALthough 70 % powerball winners are quickpicks, that last few drawings of QPs I ve noticed went like this:

* Repeats - numbers from the previous drawing come up again especially powerball.

* staggered - the five numbers are either all odd, even, higher or lower numbers

* No variety - It draws the same powerball two or three times again.

I guess , Are they giving us crappy numbers just to generate more lottery income?
