Petition a donation to your charity

Think they are arrogant for flaunting their win

I am surprised that no one has selected either of these two options. I could easily see folks petition to have a donation made to their favorite charity. And I tend to think that some would consider a person arrogant for flaunting the fact that they won. the #1 reason i wouldn't come forward on here or any other forum is

A great hacker could become me and make promises to people in forums ect...And then file suits against you for not paying up...It could potentially be a big mess...I think if you hit big, you will have law suits to defend in the real world let alone the cyber world...I just wouldn't want to give anyone any more ammo..

Wish I could say that! I might have to change my name! Once I was asked by a reporter from a local newspaper what I thought about something and he took a photo. The next day I saw it online. I was misquoted and it was the worst picture of me I've ever seen.

Far more than anyone here hitting via their system and then being worried about sharing the system, I think they'd just be far more concenred with complete strangers hitting them up for a million dollars, and believe me it would happen.

If somebdy won and they thought it was because of the system they used, why would they tell anyone else how it worked? If I won it, I would be posting from somewhere in the South Pacific using a satellite link. So they could track me but unless they were able to pinpoint the source of my satellite uplink, they would not be able to find me (not talking about the FBI, NSA, or CIA here, just a civilian).

First, I would think it was nice someone from the forum won, I would probably feel a little jealous, but that's the "inner child" having a fit.

I'd think it was cool and I would ask them NICELY if they would share their system, that way they could help a lot of people without giving away a dime. If I ever win that big I will be more than happy to give you all a seminar of how I picked the numbers AND a free copy of whatever program I used. Your third party credit card service can give you forum member information? Also, panera requires e-mail address to get access rights on their APs, it is hard to hide behind a computer unless you are on 24. It is almost laughable the liberties they take with technology on 24, because they make appear so dynamic, but they will get you if they want you. The feds can insert themselves in whatever layer they want.

Yes and no. Every web site you visit records your IP address in its web logs, and Lottery Post is no different. But No, I cannot get your home address from your IP address, and neither can any other web site.

Your ISP isn't going to just give out your information to just anyone who has your IP address and calls in to get it, there are legal steps that must be taken in order to gather such information. Most of which is either for lawsuits or criminal investigations.

IP tracking is relatively easy. IP's are similiar to your home address. In the cyber/online world, it is the home address of your physical machine as assigned by the Internet Service Provider you are currently using. You may even want to read this artical at the FBI web site http://www.fbi.gov/pressrel/pressrel03/tscpr091603.htm and even do some additional research to see just how much information can be easily revealed by one's IP address.

How would your ISP connect to your computer if they don't know where it is? If you still have dialup you could simply connect through a phone line that the phone company hasn't actually seen for years, but they still know where your end of it is. I had a feeling it would be pretty easy to track the person, cuz if any of you watch To Catch a Predator, they always seem to know exactly who the person is before the come to the house. I think they've usually been IMing the guy for a few weeks before they invite him over. So they have time to get info from the ISP. So, is there any other way to get that info other than the law requiring the ISP to hand it over

Does the ISP have any responsibility, like a bank, not to devulge my information to anyone who asks?

It's a safe assumption that anyone who has a website can track the IP of anyone who visits. Pages here used to specifically say IP address logged. How useful that IP is varies. Knowing the IP usually means you know the geographic area where that user connected to the internet, but knowing that somebody who says they won is posting from Cape May NJ wouldn't matter much if there's also a news article saying a winning lottery ticket was sold near Cape May.

I don't think most of the people posting predictions play them. I used to, but not after seeing the volume of many of them. If you posted one (and actually played it) and hit just say it was just a prediction and you didn't play it, you'd probably be able to pull it off.

I'm contemplating whether or not I should post predictions for jackpot games as it will show that if I won the jackpot, which I think could happen very soon. Do you think I should avoid it? Pretty much. I wouldn't ask them for anything except if they did it with a system and would they like to share that system with the rest of us. If they said no, that would be okay too. I would LOVE to hear how they are doing and how they are spending/investing their money.

If they can truly stay anonymous, I wouldn't think they were an idiot or flaunting it if they told. I'd be a bit jealous, but also very happy for an LP member who won. I'd probably want to beg for money, but I wouldn't. I'd love to read their blog detailing the trials and tribulations of being fabulously wealthy.

Instead, I dare to ask this, what you would think of a Lottery Post Member if that individual chose to share the knowledge that he/she was a big winner and how they opted to allocate the funds.
