I hope Powerball continues to roll and reach $415 million before a jackpot winner has been announced to step forward and take cash value. I hope Mega Millions continues to roll and reach $500 million until there is one jackpot winner in California to step forward and take cash value.

I suspect you're right. The last $370M MM jackpot sold about 212,000,000 tickets. The rollover probability was around 10%, making it a long shot on top of a long shot.

It could happen, but I suspect it won't.

Interesting that there are 16 votes for never and the other choices only have 4 as the most votes...

I personally feel we will not see a $500 million dollar jackpot. The fever gets so high when it approaches $350 million or so and it gets hit pretty soon after that.

Well, of course. The annuity amount is usually implied when someone says Mega Millions is at $xxx Million . You're looking at about a $250 Million cash option, give or take a few million.

Correct me if I am wrong , but most Jackpots aren't in the 500 million dollar CASH$ prizes. If someone wanted the cash option , he/she will only get the cash in the Jackpot , not the future dividends of financial applications ...

when more balls are added to the games.It seems like everytime the mega millions is won more frequently here they come with some more balls to make it harder for you.I could be wrong they could let a 500 mil jackpot come anytime.I don't believe they would create such a game that could not be controlled,in my opinion.

I say the next 5 years. More and more people get jackpot fever each time the jackpot gets real big, which results in bigger rolls. I think Mega Millions will make it before PowerBall will though. I think when it does happen, there will be a $400,000,000 jackpot with a following roll to $500,000,000. I'll probably make the 2 hour drive to Ohio for the $400,000,000 drawing and choose multidraw so I can also be counted in on the $500,000,000 drawing.
