or could it be they knew we would be hit by an asteroid. At least once every 200,000 years. We are supposed to be visited by one around 2030 give or take a few years.

They've had some interesting programs on Coast to Coast A.M. about this.

Some people think the Mayan Calendar 'prophecy'- the calendar just stops at 12-21 2-12 - is the end of the world, some think it's going to be some kind of 'renewal', or a change in thinking, or spiritual enlightment, or something.

Host George Noory keeps saying that 12-21-2012 is a Friday night and he'll be on the air.

From what I've read, a lot of different perspectives come into play. But the one that is talked about the most is that it's going to be a period of change. An enlightenment age, rather than doom and gloom.

In the year 2012, our Milky way galaxy will have made yet one more full rotation. For the Mayans to have know that is just amazing to me.
