I voted for charity, but it depends on how much I win. If it's a very large win I will start with giving to charity and then to the rest of the family.

If it's a small first prize I would think of my family first, then give some to charity.

What you are talking about in regards to horses are PMU farms. Where urine is taken from mares to create Estrogen drugs for women. Yes foals are taken from the mares after about a week. You could in fact buy a mare from one of these farms but they would just sell you that mare and then she would be replaced with another mare. This is most likely what you saw. I believe in paying it forward and random acts of kindness, I practice this in my life. I would donate money to various charites, buy a old farm house with lots of land so I can take in more cats thaen I have now, (13). I bring in feral cats and have them spayed or netuered. I would also open up a animal shelter for all animals because I believe putting an animal to sleep should be a last resort. Animals are are teachers in life, we just don't take time to listen. First off since playing the Lottery is basically a game of greed which I do play... I am not going to try to justify my wanting to win the lottery by saying I am going to donate to charities.... when I do win the lottery I am not going to try to justify my right to win the lottery by donating to charities.

The mares cry and kick when their babies are torn away from them and they mourn for a long time. It's cruel.

I didn't know that! That makes me sick. Wow.

Animals are a lot of work, I agree. Of course, this is all just a dream. Have to win the jackpot first and you know the odds on that.

For now,though,I will keep caring for whatever strays my way. That's how I've always gotten my pets.

I've often written that, but after watching several shows on Animal Planet, I realize it takes a lot more money and effort than most of us imagine. Has anyone here ever been to the Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo?

Also, there are already a lot of kind people doing this on a smaller scale, like taking in stray cats and dogs. Maybe even people you know. That can also get way out of control. One of my dreams about winning the lottery includes buying horses they use for breeding to make a profit.... [ More ]

Lottolaughs- Thanks for mentioning the four legged friends! So often we read the stories yet rarely consider their strife.

I couldnt pick just one. As family is on the list along with three funds that I beleive in. St Judes Hospital, Hershey Medical Center( For Children with Cancer), A college fund for Teachers of Inner City kids named after one of my beloved school teachers in grade school.

Thru out the years I would give to charities based on the current circumstances of that area.

Rather then donate to a charity, I'd like to start my own foundation. Something for our four legged friends. Maybe a sanctuary for abused or mistreated pets or retired circus animals.

Squaring away my immediate family will be top of the list.

Then the friends and family that could use the help.

After that, perhaps the Shriner's Children's hospitals.

As for solicitations, NO WAY... Even if it is a charity/relative/friend I may have given to otherwise... They will just fuel my Winners should remain anonymous fire.

I will donate to a few colleges, offer two-year and some four-year college scholarships to low and middle income families. Hopefully, start a recreational center that will offer job training for people coming off of Public Assistance.

Ah, the winning ticket! Have to turn it on to get paid.

Seriously though, I don;t think you can really plan that. Actually hitting a jackpot would probably put you in such a menatal tizzyy for a few days you wouldn't know up or down, let alone how much you're going to give out to charities and what have you.

You also would probably be solicitied like you would not believe.

Me and my family comes first everyone after is a plus for them especialy if they're cool and not fools.

Second I would visit one of those Childrens Hospital like Share the Power of the Wish.

Then I'm off to Tahati to sip pina coladas and mai tais and watch the women dance with no tops.

If I win big the first charities I want to give to I heard about on TV shows. Both are for women in Africa.

A goat as a gift can sustain a family . .

A sewing machine to a woman in Africa can put her in business and sustain her family..

So my answer is lots of goats and sewing machines to women in AFRICA
