The only thing I can think of is that maybe they want to make it convenient for you to spend $5.00. There's been many times I went in the store only planning to spend a few dollars, but I have those empty play areas and I just keep filling them in...usually spending $5.

Jap69, that makes a lot more sense from a design standpoint. Here, the tickets, when they print out from the terminal, are limited to five plays, no more. Which is really kind odd again, since on the jackpot games like the local 6/49 game, you have a playslip which allows a maximum of ten lines on one ticket. Therefore, there is code in their system already to allow more than five plays on a ticket. And the 6/49 game is fifty cents per line (in required multiples of two) just as is Pick 3.

Thanks Amber88. Doesn't that seem odd kind of? ...THe LC knows certainly how the game is structured, and that a six-way box requires 6 different permutations to cover all the straights of that box. I wonder how much time it would save the clerks at the terminals if they had half as many playslips to put through

S.C. has the combo option box to cover all positions.

Makes it easy when you only need to mark one box.

Badger, Ky playslips are just like yours I believe. Only 5 plays per slip.

NJ has 2 Betting Options that only requires 1 line:

6-Way Wheel Bet:

Any 3-digit number with all different digits. You bet on all 6 possible combinations for $3.00.

123, 132, 213, 231, 312, 321

3-Way Wheel Bet:

Any 3-digit number with 2 digits the same. You bet all three possible combinations for $1.50.

112, 121, 211

P3 Playslip Question

I was wondering about all the other states Pick 3 playslip configurations.

Here I've always thought it strange. You are only allowed 5 plays per playslip. That means if you have a combo (say 123) that is a six-way and you want to cover all six perms of it, you have to fill out two playslips.

Seems to me almost like this is being done on purpose to make it more difficult for players. In P3 there are six-ways and three-ways. It just makes more sense to me to have it set up so you can pu... [ More ]
