I would like a store that primarily sold lottery. I would feel welcome as opposed to feeling like I'm holding up the gas and cig buyers while at the quickie mart deciding which scratchers I want.

I will say that the Ga lottery office I've been to in Savannah has a terminal and sells scratchers, so that is kinda cool.

We don't have live Keno or anything like that here in Louisiana, but in some parishes, we have video poker in bars, restaurants, and truck stops. Some of these places also sell lottery tickets. I don't think a 100% lottery store would make it, but perhaps a convenience type store that pushed lottery/gambling type stuff might.

Just a thought.

Jee, i think it will be a great idea...I'll frequent that place all the time but as long as it look like Walmart (very spacious) and had chairs and tables where you could sit, relax, sip some coffe and bagels and talk about lottery...I think it is a phenomenal idea...

It either this is a repeat of the same post or I think someone suggested the same idea like 8 months ago here on LP...Don't remember who it was...

Not only would I play at one, I'd love to run one or own it- I'd do all the things mentioned in this thread, and every day I'd have a different guest put on classes- astrology, numerology, biorhythms, using cards to get numbers, gematria, etc...

Just before the lotto got started here in Tennessee I looked into opening Cafe de Lotto . Here in west Nashville where the youngest person is me, that kind of place would go over great.

The lotto people must have heard me thinking for one of the primary rules to qualify for a lotto machine was you had to have an established businness first. They were not about to allow lotto rooms in Tennessee.

There went my first fortune.

Great idea.

When I lived in N.Y. state I went to the local easy shop which had tables where you couls sit and have coffee and refreshments while you played the keno evry 5 minutes.

I use to like watching the tv monitor for the keno draw.

Do not have keno in S.C. so I load up the dryer with ping pong balls with numbers and watch that go round and round now.

They've got Hot Trax here in TN in the bars which has a new game every 5 minutes. It's a great way to give the lottery money quickly. I don't like it becaue I don't like RNG games.

There was a Mom and Pops near me that was very similar to what you suggested and they did a great business. They had an old style lunch counter, had a cage next to it with a lottery terminal, and sold all the lottery tip sheets, magazines, and dream books. I still have some of the Lotto World magazines and Z-ways tip sheets I bought there.

I had six $1 straight winners on the Pick-3 and asked the clerk how many he could cash and he asked how many. He went next door to the bank and handed me

Michigan and WVA have online Keno games that are run by the lotteries that are played about every 5 minutes. I noticed that several of the sports bars in Michigan have the Keno games and apparently they get lots of action because the place was full, people were waiting to be seated, and they had two terminals.

Well then, I'd think it would be a hit as long as the coffee/espresso/baked goods were tasty. It would be really nice to get together with a few friends and sit and have coffee and a snack while playing Keno for an hour or so. Better than bingo cuz with bingo you have to buy a full set of tickets for the entire night (at least here) so you feel like you have to spend the full 3 or 4 hours there or else you'd be wasting some tickets.

I guess it must be legal here in CA Lilly since they do have it at that one store. You're right, it does sound like a casino but it doesn't feel like one when you go in there really. Any place that sells keno here has a small tv showing the live drawings every 5 minutes. They just went one step further and made it more comfortable for the people.

We must have been posting at the same time. Yes, strange but true.

Sounds like a great idea, but would it be legal? My state doesn't have Keno, so I don't know, would they allow you to have live feed of the drawings right where the tickets are sold? That sounds alot like a casino, and could be seen as gambling and encouraging players to bet more than they otherwise would.

That's interesting you mention that,Bob,thanks. Our highest selling store here is a liquor/food store with tables and chairs set up for keno playing. When stores make a comfortable lotto friendly envinronment I know it must help sales tremendously.

I like the idea of magazines, books and pamphlets since they are so hard to get here unless I make a 45 minute trek and time it for the monthly delivery since they sell out very quickly. But, I wouldn't be hanging out at the store

Brenda, we have one here in Orlando owned by a oriental family, Lotto Food Store. They don't have classes, LOL, but its one of the highest selling lottery retailers, in Central Fla.

There is this cute little building that looks like a house a few miles from me and it was for rent recently. I think it used to be some kind of realtor's office or something but for some reason Lottery Mart came into my head.

A store all about lottery.

You could, of course, puchase tickets and scratchoffs in the store,along with lottery books,pamplets, etc.

And if your state had the keno lottery that plays every 5 minutes, perhaps there could be a few tables and chairs placed around... [ More ]
