On the back of this flat, square coin was a set of roman numerals. I equated the numerals as 1865 - the date of the coin.

Just a short while ago today, I was looking in an old jewelry box for some earrings and found one of my old State of MI lapel pins. At the bottom was a set of roman numerals with the date MDCCCXXXV -1835.
